Overview
Lythariel is a powerful darkness mage and life mage who teaches and protects Eira. In Xalmyrra's altered history, she is a famous darkness mage from Erenmyr who saved villages and contributed to darkness-magic studies, but Eira created both darkness magic and Lythariel through the spiral shard's power.
She teaches Eira to control darkness magic, travels with Eira, Cassian, and Kaelion through Xalmyrra and Thalcoris, heals corrupted ground in Stormhaven and Bjarnholt, and brings darkness barriers to the Siege of Rimvold, Battle for Cyndarel, and Azarion's attack on Kaldaryn. After Azarion's hurricane devastates central Valrindor, she is set to rejoin Thorik while he restores Skarnheim.
Appearance
Lythariel is tall, graceful, and striking, with long black or void-black hair and vivid blue eyes. Her darkness magic often moves around her as tendrils, barriers, or shadow-like mass, making her look otherworldly even among high-level mages.
Personality
Lythariel is reserved, blunt, practical, and protective. She dislikes cities, formal gatherings, political distractions, and unnecessary killing, but she acts immediately when Eira, Cassian, civilians, or vulnerable allies are threatened.
After learning how Eira created her, Lythariel struggles with her implanted memories and origin but keeps protecting Eira, healing corrupted land with Silas, and searching for ways to protect the people Eira cares about.
Abilities, Skills & Magic
Lythariel masters darkness magic. She shapes darkness into tendrils, shields, walls, fog-like cover, heavy mass, and solid force. Her tendrils can restrain enemies, carry allies, lift heavy objects, anchor movement, cross difficult terrain, and strike with enough force to change a battlefield.
Her barriers absorb or deflect high-impact attacks. They hold against Zain's cosmic blasts, block spellblaster or spell-corruptor projectiles, and provide cover for allies in Varnhallow's arena, at the Siege of Rimvold, and during the Battle for Cyndarel.
Lythariel also channels life-like power through darkness. She can turn corrupted ground green again, restore fertile soil near Stormhaven and Bjarnholt, and briefly stabilize Remus with green light, vines, and grass after Zain wounds him.
Lythariel teaches that darkness mages draw on a power opposite to essence, that their limits involve body and mind as much as cores, and that darkness mages can sense related forms of darkness or shadow-like power.
Background & History
Lythariel enters Eira's life after Eira survives the temple and the spiral shard. She shelters Eira, teaches her control, and becomes the first person able to explain darkness magic from experience. Her altered history places her in Erenmyr, Valcirae, and Valcirae Magic School.
Silas later reveals the truth: darkness magic did not exist before Eira created it, and Lythariel is Eira's power given life through the spiral shard. Eira's act also altered Xalmyrra's memories so Lythariel had a place in the world. Lythariel accepts this with difficulty but stays bonded to Eira.
During Eira's tournament, the darkness-creature threat across Xalmyrra, and Zayren and Razen's attack at Xalatun, Lythariel trains Eira, protects her, carries her when she collapses, and brings her to Orin in Valcirae. At Xalatun, Eira is nearly killed by Zayren and Razen, and Lythariel's retaliation devastates the city and surrounding ground.
After Eira disappears from Skarnheim, Lythariel joins Silas and Krexyn near Stormhaven to turn corrupted ground fertile again. Thorik and Valrindor leaders call on her because she can reverse spreading corruption.
In Varnhallow, at the Siege of Rimvold, during the Battle for Cyndarel, and after the Attack on Kaldaryn, Lythariel fights beside Thorik, Virel, Aldar, Zayren, and Remus. She shields allies from destructive magic, counters strange anti-magic weapons, searches for Thalena and Deylin after their disappearance, and continues fighting Zain, Raphael's faction, and the spreading darkness.

- Eira: Eira created Lythariel and darkness magic through the spiral shard. Lythariel teaches Eira, protects her, and stays with her across Xalmyrra, Thalcoris, and Valrindor.
- Silas and Krexyn: Lythariel joins them near Stormhaven while turning corrupted land fertile again. Silas uncovers her origin.
- Thorik and Valrindor allies: Thorik deeply values Lythariel's healing of Bjarnholt, Stormhaven, Rimvold, and Skarnheim. She also fights beside Virel, Aldar, Zayren, Remus, Thalena, Glin, and Valrindor forces.
