Overview
Lirien is an explorer for the Xalmyrran Council and a close early mentor to Eira. She raises and guides Eira after Eira's school years as a maternal guardian and field partner on council missions from Irrathis.
Lirien explores ruins, studies artifacts, and investigates darkness. Aldar sends her with Eira on missions such as the Lake Velisyth ruins and the search that leads toward the Temple of no Return, and she later returns to council work with Aurion after her recovery.
Appearance and Manner
Lirien has auburn hair and brown eyes. During her early missions with Eira, she wears a green robe and practical travel gear, carries supplies and essence cores, and handles the day-to-day logistics of fieldwork.
She is warm, teasing, protective, and practical. She steadies Eira during visions, pulls her out of immediate danger, jokes with her about Kaelion, and keeps her focused when council work becomes overwhelming. Lirien is cautious around politics and dangerous ruins, but she continues into hazardous places when Eira or the council needs her.
Magic and Skills
Lirien is a field mage who uses fire magic in exploration and combat. She clears dense foliage with fire, fights darkness-corrupted creatures with fireballs, and can conjure flame inside the void during gate crossings. She is quick-footed and capable in combat, though enchantment work is not her strength.
Lirien is strongest in exploratory fieldwork. She reads danger in unfamiliar places, manages supplies, works around essence cores and artifacts, and ranks among the Xalmyrran Council's best explorers.
History
After Eira leaves Irrathis Magic School for personalized studies, Lirien becomes her mentor and field companion. Their early council work includes ruin and artifact investigations around Lake Velisyth, Fyrhaven, Lythenmere Lake, Velundra, and the routes leading toward the Land of Darkness.
Within Xalmyrra's overlapping cycles, Lirien reaches the Temple of no Return in two different ways. In one cycle, Lirien and Kaelion accompany Eira through the Land of Darkness and wait outside while Eira enters the temple alone and takes the spiral shard. In the later cycle, while Xelthys fills Eira's place in Xalmyrra and the true Eira remains in the temple's timeless void, the council sends Lirien and Kaelion without the true Eira. Lirien enters the temple, Kaelion waits outside, and Lirien remains suspended there until Brynor leads Mirael, Orin, Khoradyn, Kaelric, and Astheron into the Land of Darkness, where they open the dormant temple and recover Lirien alive but severely weakened.
Orin stabilizes Lirien after the rescue, and Astheron carries her out of the Land of Darkness under Brynor's orders. In Irrathis, Lirien's essence still struggles to hold together. Ilyra later uses Aurion's orreries to stabilize her, leaving Lirien healthier and able to return to herself.
After her recovery, Lirien reconnects with Eira, Kaelion, Aldar, and the council. She chooses Aldar's missions again because she liked exploring for him, accepts that Eira's path has changed, and travels with Aurion beyond Xalmyrra. Aldar sends Aurion and Lirien on a mission, and they meet Brynor, Eshmir, and Jorhan in old Durakarn while Jorhan clears the darkness from the region.
Lirien remains alive and active in Xalmyrra's council network and reconnects with Eira after Eira's long journeys.
