Overview
Chronasis is the capital of Thalassai on Xolterra, the seat of the archon of time, and the central city of the Chronasis region. Under Thalena, it houses the archon of Space and Time, Stella Aeterna, chronarcs, the Thalassai legions, and the Nexus Research Center. After Thalena leaves the office in his hands, Cassian rules Chronasis as archon.
Cityscape
Chronasis sprawls across polished white roads, domes, towers, and waterways. Violet and silver grasses, iridescent trees, essence lights, and open courtyards break up the city. Wide canals and crystalline waterways carry ships through its districts. The city includes farmlands and chronoberry plantations on its outskirts, windweaver docks and platforms, bridges over waterways, roads leading out across Thalassai, and essence towers integrated into its infrastructure.
Chronasis is known for pristine white and silver architecture, domes, columns, tiled streets, celestial motifs, and navy-and-silver local styling. Stella Aeterna, the grand palace, stands slightly elevated above the city and is the seat of government. Thalena rebuilds the older Palace of Time into Stella Aeterna and models the renewed city after ancient Jazarel, expanding the streets and waterways into a more ordered design.
Chronasis is orderly, prosperous, and ambitious. It attracts powerful mages, researchers, officials, soldiers, and foreign visitors. The city has magical transport, the Nexus Research Center, legion patrols, training grounds, and the archon's household inside Stella Aeterna.
Chronasis Colosseum
The Chronasis Colosseum is a colossal arena commissioned by Thalena after she became archon of Space and Time. It is used for trials, competitions, combat training, public duels, magical tests, and scheduled sparring bouts. It stands near active training areas and the Chronasis military academy, with elevated seating, thick stone walls, a brown stone arena floor, and public access most of the time.
Thalena trains Eira, Cassian, and Kaelion there, and Cassian later duels Calythos there before a gathered crowd. During Virel's time in Thalassai, Aelius assigns him responsibility for the colosseum, including arena schedules, sparring bouts, duels, and site upkeep. Jin later spends quiet time there during his recovery in Chronasis, and Cassian trains there under Aelius. A later meeting hall near the outskirts of Chronasis is built as a smaller domed replica of the colosseum.
Government
Chronasis is governed by its archon and supported by elite officials called chronarcs. Nethira, Astryx, and Lunorax serve among Thalena's chronarcs. Cassian later appoints Arinella, Deylin, and Ilyra to chronarc positions. The Thalassai legions patrol the city, guard public order, and serve under Aelius, the imperator in Chronasis. Officials, legati, researchers, and regional leaders all operate through the city's administrative network.

History
Chronasis was founded long ago by Orin atop a gate, making the gate chamber the old heart of Thalassai. The city becomes the seat of the archon of time. After the Internal Thalassai War, Helena Hyperion reinvents herself as Thalena Xenith, becomes archon of time, declares herself archon of space and time, and begins rebuilding the Palace of Time, widening white streets and waterways, and adding institutions for the capital she envisions.
Under Thalena, Chronasis expands rapidly. She appoints chronarcs, rebuilds the Palace of Time into Stella Aeterna, creates or expands the Nexus Research Center, commissions a colossal colosseum and celestial observatories, and improves waterways for transport. The legions enforce near-zero crime, and researchers push rapid innovation in aether vessels, enchanted mobility, ship lifts, and trains.
After Cassian becomes archon of Chronasis, Thalena remains its former archon. Cassian governs from Stella Aeterna with chronarcs, Aelius, and the city's officials in his administration. Chronasis remains Cassian's base for gate, timerift, essence, train, trade, and military coordination as missions turn toward Varnhallow, Zarephon, the source, the Solvarria and Pyrenis Campaign, and allied action against Zain, Raphael, Gabriel, and Khauren.

Secrets and Mysteries
Chronasis is built over an ancient gate. Thalena uses the city as the core of her long plan after the Internal Thalassai War, draws power from belief, and builds institutions and allies strong enough to challenge divine threats. The Nexus Research Center houses the gate machinery used for travel experiments, timerift problems, and Thalena's attempts to understand access to the God Realm.
