Severin is a mage from Avalon in Lumeria who advises Regent Bernard. He formerly served among Rahmavir's chosen leaders and worked closely with Alistair, known there as Alice.
Appearance
Severin has blue eyes, brown and silver hair, an angular face and a large nose.
Magic
Severin uses temporal, cosmic and earth magic. He raises earth formations and cosmic barriers, rapidly rebuilding damaged shields. His skill let him descend to the bottom of the lake beneath Zarephon, enduring its extreme pressure.
History
Leaving Lumeria
Severin was one of Lumeria's highest nobles, serving its imperial regent. When he came to Zarephon to investigate the source, Alistair persuaded him to become an ally. Severin agreed on condition that Lumeria be told he had drowned in the Plains of Eternity, allowing him to leave its politics.
His dives revealed a young man's body connected to the breach. Alistair concluded that it was Gabriel, absorbing essence to recharge himself. Severin later detected the weakening flow of essence from the tear. He taught Maric and Nero to use their magic in the plains and supported their efforts to close the source.
Coalition war
Severin fought beside Alistair near Varnhallow. Later, while fighting the Order of the Spiral, he was severely injured by Eira. Alice brought him back to the other survivors, and he carried Myrelia to Zarephon. Doss impersonated Alice during their departure for Cyndarel, deceiving him about Alice's involvement in Zarephon's destruction.
At Cyndarel, Severin protected Boss beside Kjeldan, firing a spellblaster against their attackers. Boss and Kjeldan died, but Severin survived. He intended the next battle to be his last before searching for Alice. During the fighting in Ulzathir, he repaired the shields around Azarion's skyship against Jin Leiyun's attacks, then fled the overwhelming clash.
Return to Avalon
Finding no leads on Alice, Severin returned to Lumeria and resumed government work. He had once caused a major upheaval there but had abandoned his former name, concealing his identity as a legendary swordsman. He advised Bernard to accept the invitation to the Valrindor Council.
A weakening god offered him a pact, claiming betrayal by its former wielder. Severin suspected Khauren and refused, confronting the god's dependence on the people's essence. He accompanied Bernard to Melandor, where he requested a demonstration from Seralyth and put Lumeria forward to join the council at Bernard's prompting.
Thalena's Shores of Eternity
In Thalena's account, Severin joined the mission to Ithyreon. He died when liquid thrown up during the fighting struck him and dissolved his body.
