Overview
Krexyn is an essence shaper from Shroudvale and an old friend of Malcairn / Silas. He comes from the transformed remnant of the Malverand Empire, survives the shapers' confinement behind the walls, and crosses into Xalmyrra to find Silas while Zharrek's shapers move through Thundermarch and toward Rimvold. Rhalyn protects him, secures guarantees that he and Silas will not be harmed, and begins teaching him Xalmyrran while Renneth and Maric guard him.
Appearance and Abilities
Krexyn has ash-gray skin, visible scars, glowing essence veins, and burning amber eyes. As a shaper, he belongs to a people with enhanced speed, enhanced strength, advanced essence manipulation, and essence-fused bodies that require replenishment for survival.
He is an exceptional cosmic barrier mage. His thick cosmic shields let him cross the storms into Xalmyrra with some of his memory intact, though the crossing still costs him much of what he knew. After his arrival, he briefs Xalmyrran leaders on Valrindor and Malverine, Valrindor's common tongue and the language of the ancient Malverand Empire, and translates the gate inscription about the true wielder reclaiming a lost power.
History
In Shroudvale, Krexyn shares a modest house and farm with Malcairn near a dying village. Krexyn was born into the altered shaper people who remained after Malverand became Shroudvale. He warns Malcairn about approaching the walls, questions whether humans beyond Shroudvale would accept Zharrek's plans, and prefers survival and green fields over Zharrek's conquest-minded politics.
Krexyn accompanies Malcairn to Maraveth when Malcairn confronts Zharrek. He challenges Zharrek's belief that humans will willingly become shapers, then follows Zharrek in an attempt to talk sense into him. When Malcairn frees Zal'therak from the crystal prison and takes the shard, Krexyn stands outside with Zharrek's shapers.
After reaching Xalmyrra, Krexyn cooperates with Aldar's circle under guard.

- Malcairn / Silas is Krexyn's old friend and the person he crosses into Xalmyrra to find.
- Rhalyn protects Krexyn during his first contact with Xalmyrran leaders and teaches him their language.
- Zharrek leads the aggressive Shroudvale faction Krexyn doubts, though Krexyn initially tries to reason with him.
- Lythariel later lives near Stormhaven with Silas and Krexyn while the darkness is being cleaned up.
