Duties
Remus Flassaro is a Haverloch mage, member of the Axial Concord, and keeper of symmetry. He is Simon's second-in-command in the Axial Concord.
Remus receives foreign visitors, prepares Symmetry Trials papers, patrols Haverloch's border interests, and fights in the Siege of Rimvold and the Battle for Cyndarel against Zain, Khauren, and Raphael's allies. He is killed during the Battle for Cyndarel.
Appearance and Demeanor
Remus has perfectly white hair, usually tied into an immaculate knot, ponytail, or similarly ordered style. He wears pristine Haverloch robes, including white robes with geometric patterns and robes with deep blue geometric accents.
His movement is smooth and gliding; his posture and gestures are precise and symmetrical. He is highly attentive to small flaws in clothing, hair, posture, and presentation, correcting his own appearance even in tense situations.
Remus is formal, exacting, tactical, and observant. He values Haverloch's traditions and ideals. Under pressure, he is practical: in Brahzûn, he detects dangerous military movement, invents a trade-related excuse to avoid a public clash, and withdraws before civilians are endangered.
Abilities
Remus is a powerful vector mage. He uses vectors for flight, smooth movement, calculations, trajectory control, redirection, battlefield positioning, and direct attacks. In combat he can redirect allies or enemy force, interfere with enemy bodies, and dismantle spellwork through precise vector motions.
He also uses air magic for flight, listening through controlled air streams, cushioning injured allies, and launching powerful blasts. Outside combat, he is trusted with administration and intelligence work for Haverloch and the Axial Concord.
History
Remus first receives Eira, Jin, and Kaelion in the Hall of Reflections, where he introduces them to Simon and takes special interest in Eira's carefully ordered appearance. During Eira's stay in Haverloch, he continues questioning her about her clothing and approves of Jorhan's work on it.
When Thalena returns to Haverloch and invokes her old Axial Concord place, Remus confronts her on the city's behalf. He challenges her absence from current records, prepares the Symmetry Trials papers when she invokes Jarin's rule, and accepts her result because Jarin's rule must be respected.
After Varnhallow's collapse, Remus survives the attack near Arcanis Village that leaves Simon, Celia, and Haverloch mages defeated. He remains at the Hall of Reflections for the allied meeting that follows, where Simon, Remus, Virel, Sigurd, Aldar, Lythariel, Thorik, Anshar, Zhang, Lysander, and Ilyra exchange information about the guardians, Raphael, Zain, and Varnhallow's collapse.
Between the Battle of Valalav and the Battle for Cyndarel, Remus takes on battlefield and reconnaissance work beyond Haverloch. He oversees patrols near Itati, scouts Brahzûn with Virel, exposes suspicious Ulzathir military activity, catches and evacuates Kaelion after Azarion's attack on Kaldaryn, and fights beside Virel and Simon against Eliona and Azarion.
At Rimvold, Remus joins Zayren and Lythariel against Zain. Their combined vector, air, darkness, and aether attacks nearly kill Zain. Khauren's power restores Zain and lets him strike back with red and black line attacks. Zain wounds Remus, and Lythariel stabilizes him long enough for the allies to retreat.
Remus dies during the Battle for Cyndarel, where he fights Ravira, Kjeldan, and Severin with Zayren and Lythariel. He redirects Zayren toward Ravira, then faces a bomb from Kjeldan. The bomb detonates before he can redirect it, killing him.
