Erenmyr

Overview

Erenmyr, Teryndal, Soltheris, and Keldara are Xalmyrra's four nations on Valrindor. Erenmyr is a land of swamps, vivid forests, green plains, wild purple and violet flowers, divine magic, scholars, healers, and giant magical frogs.

Erenmyr is the homeland of Deylin, Ilyra, and Orin. Eira is born there to Deylin and Ilyra, and in Lythariel's shard-altered history, she comes from the same Erenmyr village as Eira.

Geography

Erenmyr stretches northward from the meeting point of Xalmyrra's four nations near Lake Velisyth. Its terrain includes lush forests, open green plains, rolling hills, rivers, streams, mossy wetlands, deep swamps, and a long coastline. The northern shore is warm, humid, and heavily vegetated, with rough seas beyond it.

Valcirae is Erenmyr's capital, hidden inside a massive inland forest and partly built into trees. Lirathen is a smaller trade city and border city near northern Teryndal. A small village north of Lirathen is the shared origin of Deylin, Ilyra, Orin, Eira, and Lythariel, and Renneth and Maric later investigate Deylin and Ilyra's house there.

Western Erenmyr contains hidden routes, a shore facing dangerous storms, and a gate route that leads toward an island farther west.

Society and Magic

Erenmyr has a peaceful reputation beside Keldara's more martial culture. Erenmyr's divine mages are valued for shields and healing. The nation also has a scholarly tradition: Orin leads Erenmyr's scholars, Aelindra belongs to their ranks, and Valcirae is a hub of knowledge and magic.

Fine Erenmyran robes favor emerald greens with yellow or gold detailing. Orin commonly wears deep green robes and other refined green clothing.

The swamps and forests are home to giant intelligent frogs, including Glin, Gin, Spin, and Splin. These frogs bond with powerful mages, understand thoughts, accompany and carry their bonded mages, and can later evolve into astragons.

Government and Power

Orin is Erenmyr's leading authority. He is called Orin of Erenmyr, leads Erenmyr's scholars, participates in Xalmyrran leadership, and is later expected to continue governing Erenmyr. The nation works through the Xalmyrran Council and can mobilize divine mages, healers, scholars, and defenders alongside the other Xalmyrran powers.

History

Erenmyr is already a Xalmyrran nation in ancient history. After the atraxi arrive in Xalmyrra, some settle in Valcirae, helping the atraxi language spread through trade and cultural exchange until it becomes the shared Xalmyrran tongue.

During the early crisis involving Jorhan, the darkness, and the atraxi, Orin of Erenmyr stands among Xalmyrra's leaders. Northwestern Erenmyr receives people guided away from danger. Western Erenmyr contains the gate and hidden routes used in attempts to break the cycles. The War of Scars later draws in armies from Erenmyr, Teryndal, Keldara, and Soltheris before Thalena's intervention ends the War of Scars.

Across the Xalmyrran cycles, Deylin's life repeatedly returns to Erenmyr. After surviving a dying version of Xalmyrra, David emerges in restored Erenmyr, takes the name Deylin Varos, and begins a new life. He and Ilyra later live in an Erenmyr village, where Eira is born.

Eira's visions lead back to Erenmyr, and she travels through Lirathen, Valcirae, and western Erenmyr. Shadows confront her and her allies around the village, Lirathen, Valcirae, and the western gate routes. After the cycles break, Renneth and Maric begin a northern diplomatic voyage from a coastal village near Erenmyr.

During the northern coastal defense, Nerissa and a foreign skyship force approach Erenmyr's shore. Orin, Brynor, Tazarin, Feryon, Seralyth, Mirael, and Xalmyrran airships and mages defend the coast, and Orin personally commits to defending Erenmyr.

Secrets and Mysteries

Thalena spends a hidden span of life in Erenmyr with Hrzai and the giant frogs. She names and teaches Glin, Gin, Spin, and Splin, and prepares for the events that will break Xalmyrra's cycles. Glin later evolves into an astragon, and Thalena intervenes in the War of Scars.

The western gate in Erenmyr becomes the route toward Thalcoris and Xolterra. Eira, Cassian, Lythariel, Kaelion, Jin, Deylin, and Silas become entangled in events around the gate, shadows, and attempts to break the cycle.
