Guardian of Morindel and Blackcrag
Eremion belongs to the Guardians of Malverand, wields fire and divine magic, and administers Morindel and Blackcrag during the Malverand era. He governs by organizing logistics, resource management, production, farming, skyships, and mage placement according to practical value.
His Malverand heart survives Morindel's destruction, allowing him to return millennia later when Astrid brings the crystal heart from Morindel to Blackcrag. After his restoration, he wins a Blackcrag council seat, sabotages Garrik's escape, becomes regent and then king, and turns Blackcrag toward the Maraveth War, the Malverand vault, and surviving imperial relics.
Appearance and Manner
Eremion has golden hair and silver eyes, and his restored body retains a youthful, almost timeless look. After returning in Blackcrag, he favors white robes and carries twin swords forged or refined in Blackcrag's royal forge.
Eremion is orderly, ambitious, courteous when it serves him, and intensely focused on logistics and control. In early Malverand and in his marriage to Aruviel, he can be warm and supportive. Over time, his drive for control becomes authoritarian: he sorts populations by magical usefulness, pushes elite breeding, uses Morindel and Blackcrag for production and war, and becomes willing to sacrifice his own people to deny enemies an advantage.
Abilities
Eremion wields destructive fire and divine magic, often fused into golden fire. His combat style uses overwhelming heat, golden fire waves, divine barriers and enchantments, plasma rain, fire-propelled flight, and twin swords that can leave his hands and return to him. He is powerful enough to threaten entire battlefields, clash with Raphael, fight Zero and Kallion, and force Thalena to spend heavily to defeat him.
Eremion also designs or improves supply chains, production facilities, skyship programs, resource distribution, military organization, and Blackcrag's mines, farms, and skyship works. He understands Malverand hearts, second-generation god cores, the Vireen expedition, and ancient gate projects well enough to help plan them, though he never wields origin magic directly.
History
Eremion rises as a fire mage and administrator under Barachiel. He streamlines Malverand's logistics, shifts dangerous essence-tower production away from dense cities, and becomes guardian of Morindel. After Barachiel assigns Blackcrag to him, Eremion sends scouts, artisans, and engineers there to build mines, farms, production facilities, skyship works, and a military-industrial base.
During the Vireen project, Eremion draws on Arcanis's gate research and Aruviel's skyship work. Eremion marries Aruviel, backs her appointment as pilot and specialist for the expedition, and later crosses the Vireen gate after Michael proves the crossing works. When Eremion returns through the gate, red lines flare across the vortex and his shard hand, and Barachiel's later crossing collapses the gate.
After Barachiel's disappearance, Khauren pushes Eremion toward imperial rule and introduces him to Oktlix, a being from the void whose knowledge includes origin magic. Khauren uses Oktlix against Barachiel in the gate passage, intending for Barachiel's fall to push Eremion into breaking the pact and claiming the spiral shards. Eremion instead refuses to release the pact even when that bond stands between him and the spiral shard.
As Malverand fractures, Eremion consolidates forces around Morindel and Blackcrag. When Thamrielle retreats from Rahmavir, Eremion gives her Blackcrag as a region of her own; Blackcrag flourishes under her rule before he proposes joint rule and absorbs much of her army. He clashes with Raphael, Isandriel, Jeremiah, Uriandel, and the Order as Malverand divides. He takes Eliona's surviving Malverand heart after Isandriel's punishment and later gives it to Raphael. He also develops second-generation shard wielders, including Azarion, Koriel, and Rhaeniel; Azarion is his secret son and trusted commander.
Eremion's ancient body is destroyed at Morindel when Zero traps him in a black hole and Kallion drops a sun-like plasma strike into the singularity. The blast levels Morindel; in the aftermath, the land bridge collapses and Morindel Lake expands into the Morindel Sea, leaving Eremion reduced to his Malverand heart.
Astrid's study of the heart in Blackcrag lets Eremion restore his body. He invokes his old rule over Morindel and Blackcrag, wins backing through Malverand knowledge and practical reforms, and gains a council seat. After George dies and Garrik flees before coronation, Eremion becomes temporary regent and eventually king. He militarizes Blackcrag, prepares against Garrik, and marches toward Maraveth.
During the Maraveth War, Eremion holds Blackcrag and Maraveth against Garrik's coalition while coordinating with Raphael, Eliona, Azarion, and their allies. Raphael's side uses him as bait to draw Thalena into a costly duel. Thalena defeats him and questions him, and Khauren destroys Eremion's weakened body with red-line origin effects before the situation is resolved, leaving his Malverand heart behind.
Relationships
- Khauren: Khauren is Eremion's god and closest divine companion, but he also uses Eremion as the center of his escape plan. Eremion trusts him deeply and refuses to release their pact, and Khauren eventually kills him after Thalena leaves him weakened.
- Eira / Aruviel: Eira lives in ancient Malverand under the name Aruviel and becomes Eremion's wife. Eremion knows her as Aruviel, not as a displaced member of the later Order.
- Azarion: Azarion is Eremion's secret son, commander, and strongest second-generation shard wielder.
- Garrik: Garrik becomes Eremion's main rival after rejecting Eremion's council control and fleeing before his coronation.
- Raphael and Eliona: Eremion and Raphael shift between rivalry, collaboration, and shared restorationist goals. Eremion gives Eliona's heart to Raphael, which later allows Eliona's revival.
- Zero and Kallion: Zero and Kallion destroy Eremion's ancient body at Morindel, leaving only his heart.
