History
During a civil war between Thiravos and Theryssa, Remiella used the wave shard's power to sever the lands into countless smaller islands, killing herself in the process. The resulting tsunami destroyed cities and flooded farmland across northern Valrindor. Survivors began rebuilding among the shattered coasts and volcanic scars.
Eremion later invaded the islands and compelled them to serve his army.

Geography and technology
Thiravos lies near Shanari and north of the Blackcrag Dominion. Pelagos overlooks the ocean, with white buildings, marble colonnades, roofs in earthy colours, and an amphitheater. Its layered marble consulate has an earthy dome and a spire; a lighthouse stands offshore, and skyship docks lie behind the city.
Thiravos trades with Shanari and uses sleek metallic skyships powered by essence engines. Most large cities in Thiravos and Theryssa have gates, though the cost and complexity restrict their use to elites. Essence towers power the gates; operators enter sequences that connect them directly to another gate. Much of the technology descends from Malverand, with gate designs developed beyond the originals.

Eremion later invaded the islands and compelled them to serve his army. After Malverand's guardians were defeated, Thiravos and Theryssa governed themselves. Nerissa had agreed with Isandriel to destroy Malverand's history in the two nations, preserving their freedom while concealing that past.
Pyragos used earth magic to shape cities and reshape broad stretches of land. He was honored alongside Nerissa, then left to search for Isandriel.
The consuls and the invasion
Thiravos avoided mainland wars and maintained close ties with Theryssa. A secret agreement between Lucilla and George brought Blackcrag engineers to teach both nations improved technology for essence engines.
Before the invasion, Thiravos had six consuls, including their head, Kalyx. Gabriel threatened Pelagia with a snowstorm and demanded the islands' gate knowledge in exchange for protection from Raphael. Nerissa agreed to attack Xalmyrra, and Kalyx prepared Thiravos's army and skyships. The fleet joined the assault on Erenmyr, where Lucilla unmade Nerissa and Kalyx died.
Lucilla removed the supporters of Nerissa's plan from both governments. Brontes was elected head consul of Thiravos, with Damarra remaining his advisor. He and Lucilla subsequently pledged the nations' support for the Valrindor Council.
