Theryssa is an island nation in northern Valrindor, with its capital at Pelagia. It shares a large landmass with Thiravos, and the two nations also control numerous smaller islands near Shanari.
History
During a civil war between Theryssa and Thiravos, Remiella used the wave shard's power to sever the lands into countless smaller islands, killing herself in the process. The resulting tsunami destroyed cities and flooded farmland across northern Valrindor. Survivors began rebuilding among the shattered coasts and volcanic scars.
Eremion later invaded the islands and compelled them to serve his army.

History
Remiella led thousands of colonists to the continent of Thiravos and its northern region, Theryssa, during the expansion of the Malverand Empire. Conflict between the regions became a civil war. In an attempt to separate them, Remiella overloaded and used the wave shard's power to sever the lands into countless smaller islands. She died in the process, and the resulting tsunami destroyed cities and flooded farmland across northern Valrindor.
Eremion later invaded the islands and compelled them to serve his army. He reclaimed Theryssa and Thiravos during his struggle with the Order of Thalion Zenith.
Theryssa is an island nation in northern Valrindor, governed by consuls led by Lucilla. Its capital is Pelagia. It shares a large landmass with Thiravos, and the two nations also control numerous smaller islands.
Geography and technology
Theryssa lies near Shanari and north of the Blackcrag Dominion. Pelagia is a coastal city of white and brown buildings with roofs in earthy colours, pine and olive trees, an amphitheater, and a consulate with a white rooftop. A lighthouse stands on a small island offshore, overlooking fishing boats and skyships.
The nation trades with Shanari and uses sleek metallic skyships powered by essence engines. Most large cities in Theryssa and Thiravos have gates, though the cost and complexity restrict their use to elites. Essence towers power the gates; operators enter sequences that connect them directly to another gate. Much of the technology descends from Malverand, with gate designs developed beyond the originals.
History
Malverand and the island nations
Remiella led thousands of colonists to the continent of Thiravos and its northern region, Theryssa. Conflict between the two regions became a civil war. Nerissa tricked Remiella into overloading, and Remiella used the wave shard's power to sever the lands into countless smaller islands. She died in the process, and the resulting tsunami destroyed cities and flooded farmland across northern Valrindor.
Eremion later invaded the islands and compelled them to serve his army. After Malverand's guardians were defeated, Theryssa and Thiravos governed themselves. Nerissa had agreed with Isandriel to destroy Malverand's history in the two nations, preserving their freedom while concealing that past.
Lucilla's government
Lucilla served for centuries as head consul under Nerissa's authority. The nations avoided mainland wars and focused on defending their homelands. When George sought mages for Blackcrag's war against Shroudvale, Lucilla refused. They instead reached a secret agreement: Blackcrag's engineers taught both island nations improved technology for essence engines, and Lucilla bore a child to become George’s heir.
Gabriel later threatened Pelagia with a snowstorm and demanded an invasion of Xalmyrra. He offered protection from Raphael in exchange for the islands' gate knowledge. Nerissa agreed, and Theryssa joined the fleet attacking Erenmyr. When Nerissa continued endangering innocents during the battle, Lucilla severed her connection to the God Realm and unmade her.
Lucilla removed the supporters of Nerissa's plan from both governments. She signed trade agreements and diplomatic deals with Erenmyr, then pledged Theryssa's support for the Valrindor Council.
Thalena's account
In Thalena's Shores of Eternity, Gabriel's crystals ruined most of Pelagia.
