Myrravel

Overview

Myrravel is a kingdom in northeastern Valrindor whose capital is Myriandel, a terraced city within the Plains of Eternity. The Plains threaten the kingdom. Ranan, Nuvyra, and Sharuzh join Rahmavir's side of the war over the source after the Oracles refuse to control or surrender the source.

Across the older Eternal War and the later source closure attempt, Ranan and Nuvyra direct the older march toward the source, and later royalty still sends aid after the failed source closure destroys Zarephon's mountain.

Land and Culture

Myrravel lies far north of Ulzathir and is difficult to reach because the Plains block or distort overland travel. A boat route from Rimvold can reach Myriandel, and later roads through the Plains connect Myriandel with Tharran, Zarephon, villages, inns, and trading routes used by adapted travelers.

During the Eternal War, Myrravel has trees, dragons, essence-altered creatures, and nature-centered beliefs. By Aurelia's visit to Varnhallow, the Plains have consumed much of the nation. Myrravel natives in that period favor light violet and pink clothing. Later travelers encounter locals around Myriandel in thin teal robes.

Monarchy and Magic

Myrravel is ruled by a monarchy. During the Ulzathir-Myrravel march toward the source, King Ranan and Queen Nuvyra, distant relatives of Aurelia, rule from twin thrones in Myriandel and direct Myrravel's forces in the march toward the source. Aurelia is a princess of Myrravel, and the Myrravel rulers of her childhood hoped to train her as an oracle. During Alice and Eliona's journey, a later Myrravel king and queen promise aid, and Myrdon and Myrelia are Myrravel's prince and princess.

The kingdom produces strong mages adapted to the Plains. Its elite forces include air, aether, earth, divine, fire, lightning, and cosmic mages. Myrravel's magical history also includes Aurelia's copy magic and a few other Myrravel users with the same magic. Barachiel used the same rare form of copy magic.

History

Myrravel first enters the source war through diplomacy with Rahmavir and the Oracles. When the Oracles refuse to control or surrender the source, Rahmavir attacks the Oracles, and Myrravel stays on Rahmavir's side of the Eternal War. The Eternal War expands across the Plains as Rahmavir and Myrravel attack Oracle defenses.

Aurelia later reaches Varnhallow as a time-displaced princess seeking military aid for Myrravel against Abraxas. She gains Ulzathir's aid through Ozaith and travels with Viviana, Gren, Sharuzh, Tarazhi, and Ulzathir's army across the Plains to Myriandel. The capital is intact, inhabited, and well defended when they arrive. Myrravel still commands forces from Myriandel.

Ranan, Nuvyra, and Sharuzh use Ulzathir's army and Ozaith's trust to push the Ulzathir-Myrravel march toward the source. They ambush Nadun near Myriandel's lake, blame his death on Abraxas, and march Myrravel and Ulzathir-aligned forces toward the Oracles. The Ulzathir-Myrravel march toward the source aims to take the source and kill the Oracles because the Oracles will not control the Plains.

Myrravel survives after Zarephon's mountain is destroyed during the failed source closure. By then the Plains have nearly swallowed the kingdom. Myrravel still has rulers, roads, travelers, and enough military strength to send some of its best mages with Azarion.

Additional Context

  • Barachiel comes to early Maraveth from Myrravel after his people leave an earlier settlement where essence has begun seeping through the land.
