Overview
Myriandel is the capital of Myrravel, a terraced city inside the Plains of Eternity. During the Ulzathir-Myrravel march toward the source, Viviana, Gren, Aurelia, Sharuzh, and Ulzathir's forces gather there at a functioning, well-defended capital.
Centuries later, Myriandel remains active on the road from Tharran through the Plains toward Zarephon. The route carries the risk of disorientation and dangerous creatures around Lake Eternity, and travelers, merchants, skyships, and Myrravel forces still use it.
Geography and Design
Myriandel rises above Lake Eternity in a vertical arrangement of winding roads, steep terraces, stone bridges, towers, vines, waterfalls, and crystalline structures. Water gathers across the immense surrounding trees and pours through the city toward the deep indigo lake below. Crystals embedded in stone and walls give parts of the city a soft light at night.
The central palace stands on the upper terraces, with white arches, green vines, fountains, streams, a courtyard, and a royal hall with plain twin thrones. Myriandel also has libraries, including one built into a massive tree with stone and glass windows partly hidden by vines and flowers.
The surrounding Plains contain enormous trees, purple rock, hissing geysers, strange flowers, dangerous lake creatures, and shifting essence conditions. Roads connect Myriandel with Tharran, Zarephon, the lakeside route, and the approach toward the River of Eternity and the source.
Society and Power
Myriandel is inhabited and defended during Viviana and Gren's march toward the source in the Eternal War and during Alice and Eliona's journey after Zarephon's destruction. During Viviana and Gren's stay, citizens watch the arriving foreign soldiers with unease, elite mages patrol the perimeter, and Myrravel natives favor light violet and pink garments suited to the warm, humid climate. During Alice and Eliona's stop, locals in thin teal robes greet skyship travelers and refuel their vessel.
The city lives alongside the strange plants and creatures of the Plains. Myrravel's cities are well defended, local creatures know where people are, and Myrravel natives use Plains-grown plants and animals as food sources.
Myriandel is ruled by Myrravel's monarchy. During the Ulzathir-Myrravel march toward the source, Ranan and Nuvyra rule from the palace and join Aurelia, Sharuzh, and Ulzathir's forces in planning the march toward the source. After Zarephon's destruction, Myrravel's current king and queen promise aid, and some of Myrravel's strongest mages, including Myrdon and Myrelia, travel with Azarion.
History
Aurelia leads Viviana, Gren, Sharuzh, Tarazhi, and Ulzathir's forces through the Plains to Myriandel. The city is peaceful, intact, and heavily defended when they arrive, which leads Viviana and Gren to distrust Aurelia's account of Myrravel's desperation and the war against Abraxas and the Oracles.
During their stay in Myriandel, Viviana and Gren explore the city, visit the palace and libraries, and read histories about Myrravel's resistance against Abraxas. In the royal hall, Ranan, Nuvyra, and Sharuzh plan the march toward the source. Rahmavir attacks the Oracles from another direction during the Eternal War.
After Nadun arrives, he begins to share Viviana and Gren's concerns. Sharuzh, Ranan, and Nuvyra then ambush him near the lake. Ozaith is absent through the shard during the ambush. A massive lake creature swallows Nadun during the ambush, and the lake fight damages Myriandel's outskirts, streets, waterfalls, bridges, and buildings. Sharuzh publicly blames Abraxas for Nadun's death, using the murder to push Ulzathir and Myrravel into the war against the Oracles over the source.
During Alice and Eliona's later pursuit of the Order, they pass through Myriandel on the road toward Zarephon. They refill skyship essence cores near the city, confirm that Myrravel's rulers have promised aid, and continue along the road used by travelers, merchants, villages, inns, and mages testing their strength in the Plains.
After Zarephon's destruction, Myrelia joins Eliona, Azarion, Alice, and Doss on the route to Cyndarel.

In Myriandel, Viviana and Gren find an intact capital, Ranan and Nuvyra ambush Nadun near the lake, and Sharuzh uses Nadun's murder as the pretext for the war against the Oracles over the source.
