Overview
The War of Scars devastates Xalmyrra on a continental scale. It begins after Kaldramir Kaldaros, supreme general of Keldara, gains knowledge of Xalmyrra's repeating cycles and launches a massive campaign across the continent. The War of Scars burns cities and villages, kills millions, and becomes Xalmyrra's warning against future continent-spanning devastation.
History
In one cycle, Belanor gives Kaldramir knowledge of the cycles, the storms around Xalmyrra, the darkness, and the outside world. Kaldramir's campaign spreads into open war among armies from Keldara, Soltheris, Erenmyr, and Teryndal.
The War of Scars occurs a second time in a later cycle after Thalena gives Kaldramir the same knowledge herself. She does this so the War of Scars still happens, Arcanis's intervention enters Xalmyrra's legends, and the cycle follows the path she needs to preserve.
The War of Scars ends when Thalena, in Arcanis's form, rides Glin in astragon form over the battlefield. She descends from the sky, pins the armies, and halts the fighting.
The Eleven Stories of Old preserves fragments of the War of Scars, including Kaldramir's knowledge of the cycles and Arcanis's intervention.
