Overview
Airships are flying vessels used across Valrindor for passenger travel, supply runs, diplomacy, patrols, military deployment, battlefield supply drops, and troop movement. In Xalmyrra, they operate between cities such as Irrathis, Zeydrith, Lirathen, Dravemir, Valcirae, and the Erenmyr coast. Aurion keeps a grand personal airship large enough to dominate an Irrathis landing platform.
Designs
Airship designs vary by region. Xalmyrran airships can rely on warm air. Soltheris-made frames outpace Teryndal's local airship designs. Aerial traditions also include skyships with glowing mechanisms or essence-powered engines, windweavers from Thalassai, and vector voyagers from Haverloch. Foreign and Malverand-derived airships can have metallic hulls, rear decks, glowing engines, and mounted magical weapons.
Uses
Airships carry rulers, envoys, mages, soldiers, messengers, passengers, and supplies. They need docks, landing platforms, or safe open spaces, which makes them expensive, visible, and impractical for some ruin exploration or quiet travel. In military use, they can patrol coastlines, drop supplies, move reinforcements, carry troops, fire magical barrages, and be shaken or brought down by powerful mages.
Powerful mages can augment airship travel. Brynor repeatedly accelerates airships from the stern with controlled fire and air, sometimes drawing on an essence core while the crew remains aboard.
