Character Network Timeline

Khoradyn Kaldaryn is a former supreme commander of Keldara who returned after disappearing for more than twenty years.

He led an expedition into the northern Keldaran mountains to find a way beyond them. The party entered a cave and continued through it, eventually reaching warmer air and unfamiliar plants. Khoradyn returned alone, without visibly aging and with little memory of the journey. Rhalyn had returned seventeen years before him, also without clear memories. The other companions, including Kren, remained missing.

Aldar sought information from him about Isrynn, who had disappeared in the same region. Khoradyn attended the negotiations in Zeydrith, joined the alliance against the darkness and agreed to accompany Brynor's expedition into the Land of Darkness.

History

Valrindor

Khoradyn led an expedition through a cave in the northern Keldaran mountains while searching for a way beyond them. He reached Valrindor, where he stayed at the Cloudrift Temple with other mages from Xalmyrra. He taught Jin Keldaran combat methods and philosophy, urging him to control his anger. Khoradyn later left with Kren and Zhang, while Rhalyn remained at the temple.

After Malcairn warned him about Hengvaris's shapers, Khoradyn sent Kren ahead and asked Malcairn to check on Rhalyn in Varentis. He later gave Garrik leadership of his people in Kaldaryn because he preferred exploring to remaining in one place.

During the cataclysm, Khoradyn raised defensive mountains and walls of earth and ice at Varentis. He worked alongside Silas's cosmic barrier, and the city remained standing.

He joined the alliance against the darkness and accompanied Brynor's expedition, helping drag the orreries and raise paths through the corrupted terrain. At the Temple of No Return, a hand he formed from stone opened the door and released Lirien. He offered to take her back, but Astheron accompanied her instead.

During the expedition, Khoradyn recovered memories of Valrindor and Thundermarch. He wanted to explore farther, but the group's provisions were running out. He and Brynor used the orreries to attack the temple with lava, leaving it undamaged. The party returned after two weeks, and Khoradyn went back to Keldara.

As their followers settled, he asked Garrik to lead the people so that he could resume travelling. Garrik named the nation the Kaldaryn Protectorate and its capital Kaldaryn City. Khoradyn then led volunteers to aid Thundermarch and defended Cloudrift from an attack. He forced Shaoying and Linsothar to make peace and focus on the shapers, promising help if they remained friendly with Thundermarch.

He searched underground for the buried vault and eagerly offered to accompany Thalena on further expeditions. When Brynor returned, Khoradyn reunited with his former pupil and hoped that he could locate the vault. When Brynor and Lysander left to investigate it, Khoradyn stayed with the army to guard against Blackcrag retaliation.

During the siege of Omberion, Khoradyn and a group of earth mages attempted an underground breach, but they were detected and forced to retreat. He and Zhang later diverted lava from a nearby volcano against the city. It cracked the shields and drew reinforcements to the northwest. Before the attack on Cyndarel, he warned Garrik that the army's morale was poor and urged him to send the weaker troops home. Garrik retained the best volunteers, and Khoradyn chose to remain for the assault.

Khoradyn and Zhang fought Gabriel at Cyndarel. A blast from Azarion gave them an opening to withdraw, and they rejoined Aldar while he fought Raphael. Alistair blinked a device onto Raphael and detonated it with a cosmic ray. The explosion killed Khoradyn and Zhang. Garrik later honored them with statues in Kaldaryn's central square.
