Laizhou has broad streets, gardens and ponds among buildings with green roof tiles, curved eaves and wooden beams trimmed with gold. Mercenaries can enlist in the nation's army there.

History
Shaoying joined Linsothar and Hengvaris in an alliance against the shapers of Shroudvale. Khoradyn enforced peace between Shaoying, Linsothar and Thundermarch, bringing them into the alliance centered on Kaldaryn.
The shapers broke through Shaoying and Linsothar while searching for a relic and the pass to Xalmyrra. They destroyed resistance and left settlements deserted as they advanced toward Thundermarch. Kaldaryn's army returned to restore parts of the ravaged territories.

His army attacked Cloudrift to force Thundermarch to submit, and its mages drained essence from their own soldiers during the fighting. When he prepared another invasion, Garrik and Khoradyn combined their forces to defeat it. Some of Shaoying's soldiers surrendered and joined Khoradyn's army.

Shaoying developed its own identity as the lands west of Maraveth grew under the Malverand Empire. In 1052 BX, Eliona became its guardian and ruler, overseeing expansion farther west. She eradicated an opposing faction instead of negotiating with it. Barachiel condemned her actions, and Isandriel destroyed her on his orders. Michael then took responsibility for Shaoying.
