Overview
Rhalyn is a Keldaran divine mage from Varentis and Kren's sister. She travels with Khoradyn through the northern passage into Thundermarch, trains Jin as a Keldaran teacher and early love, and later teaches divine magic in Varentis, protects Krexyn, and commands divine enchanters in Garrik's Valrindor forces.
Appearance and Manner
Rhalyn has long, curly blond hair and pale white eyes. Her face and essence carry a hollow quality after the storm passage damages her memories, and Splin later eases some of that damage.
Rhalyn is protective, perceptive, and steady under pressure. She questions reckless plans, asks for diplomacy in strategy councils, guards vulnerable outsiders from immediate retaliation, and accepts Silas / Malcairn after recognizing him beneath his human disguise.
Abilities
Rhalyn is a powerful close-range divine enchanter. At Cloudrift Temple, students and masters struggle against her divine-enchanted speed, strength, and durability. Her divine-enchanted body withstands Jin's wind and lightning attacks. She fights mainly with her fists and feet, using gloves and sturdy boots with her enchanted body.
Her divine magic also extends to protection, healing, and restraint. She enchants Jin before his attack on Ren Wuye, reinforces Khoradyn's ice boat and its passengers during the northern-passage expedition, shields civilians in Varentis during the cataclysm, blocks a shaper's cosmic beam with a golden divine shield, binds Krexyn with divine ropes, heals the injured, teaches divine magic in Varentis, and commands Garrik's strongest divine enchanters and melee fighters in the vanguard.
History
Rhalyn travels from Keldara into Thundermarch with Khoradyn, Kren, and a Keldaran party. The group reaches Cloudrift Temple with Jin after the mountain caves, and Rhalyn's overwhelming strength in divine-enchanted duels outmatches masters and students there. After Stormbrook is destroyed, she trains Jin, remains with him after most of the Keldarans depart, travels with him through Cloudrift and Stormpeak, and is with him when he kills Ren Wuye and becomes Tianlei's wielder.
Jin and Rhalyn cross the storms back toward Xalmyrra under Tianlei's guidance. The passage strips away Rhalyn's memories of Thundermarch and her years with Jin. Jin brings her home to Varentis and promises to restore what she lost.
Years later, Silas reaches Varentis after Khoradyn asks him to check on Rhalyn. He stays in her home, studies Keldaran language and customs around her and Durvek, and returns to her between missions for Aldar. During Varentis's cataclysm, Rhalyn shields and heals civilians. Silas and Khoradyn defend the city.
Rhalyn joins Renneth, Maric, Feryon, and Durvek in locating the northern passage where her memories begin. When ash-skinned shapers emerge from the cave, she blocks their first attack, restrains Krexyn, understands part of his language, and refuses to explain why Krexyn is searching for Silas until Keldara, the Xalmyrran Council, Soltheris, and Teryndal guarantee both men's safety. Aldar then assigns her to teach Krexyn.
After the darkness weakens, Rhalyn begins recovering her memories. She travels with Khoradyn, Astheron, Eira, and Kaelion into Valrindor, teaches Eira divine magic, reunites with Jin, and remains with Garrik's coalition. During the Siege of Omberion, Battle for Cyndarel, and Xalmyrra's border defense, she fights as a battlefield divine mage, trains allies, carries messages, and commands divine enchanters.
