Overview
Linsothar is a nation in central Valrindor, east of Shaoying, with Linzheng as its capital. It joined the Great Shaper War against Zharrek's shapers, took part in building the walls around Shroudvale, suffered heavy devastation when the shapers broke free, and Kaldaryn's army later restored portions of its ravaged territory.
Geography
Linsothar lies near Shaoying, Hengvaris, Thundermarch, and the lands surrounding Shroudvale. Maps mark the region between Linsothar and Shaoying as a place where the darkness begins rising, and shapers later cross that area before attacking Thundermarch.
Boat routes link Linsothar with distant ports; Eira considers taking a boat from Skarnheim to Linsothar. Later train and message routes run through the region around Linzheng. Tracks beyond the Linsothar border pass through wilderness, villages, open plains, rolling hills, and coastal views.
Capital and Routes
Linzheng is Linsothar's sprawling port capital, with red rooftops, open courtyards, light-wood structures, ocean-facing promenades, markets, bridges extending into the sea, and an understated emperor's palace with gardens and fountains.
Linzhou Station is a rail stop on the same border route. During Aldar's train-line investigation, false guards near the tracks wear green and silver Linsothar-styled robes and stage a repair-site ruse near Linzhou Station.
History
Linsothar joined Skarnheim, Thundermarch, Shaoying, and additional human nations in the Great Shaper War against Zharrek's shapers. After the shapers were defeated, Linsothar remained among the nations responsible for the walls that sealed Shroudvale away.
In later generations, Linsothar, Shaoying, and Hengvaris kept a fragile alliance against Shroudvale. Unrest and infighting weakened the region. Khoradyn eventually forced Shaoying and Linsothar into a bitter peace after defending Thundermarch, ordering both nations to focus on the shaper threat and remain friendly with Thundermarch.
The shapers later broke free, devastated much of Shaoying and Linsothar, and advanced toward Thundermarch. Kaldaryn's army began restoring portions of the ravaged territories. Linsothar's border settlements, rail route, local clothing style, and Linzheng's use as a message relay remained active in the later communication network.
