Overview
Isrynn is Kaelion's mother, a powerful temporal mage from Soltheris, and a Soltheris advisor who mentored Aurion with Astheron. She later joins the Xalmyrran Council, disappears during council business in northern Keldara, survives in Valrindor, and becomes an ally of Garrik and Kaldaryn while searching for Therion.
Isrynn's absence drives Kaelion to join the council and search beyond Soltheris. After they reunite in Laizhou, she trains Eira, scouts and plans with Garrik's forces around Shroudvale, Maraveth, and Kaldaryn, and dies protecting Kaelion from Azarion, Eliona, and their skyships.
Appearance and Personality
Isrynn is an older, keen-boned woman with dark-blond hair and keen green eyes. In Thundermarch she stands out as Xalmyrran, and officials defer to her authority. Among Thundermarch mages, she wears red dragon clothing, and later she wears lighter Kaldaryn robes while serving Garrik's coalition.
Isrynn is practical, perceptive, wry, and emotionally guarded. She is warm and teasing with Kaelion and Eira, but her long absence makes trust with Kaelion difficult to rebuild. She admits she failed him as a mother while making clear that she always cared, and she remains steady under danger, negotiation, scouting, logistics, and combat.
Abilities, Skills & Magic
Isrynn is renowned for temporal magic. She teaches Kaelion temporal magic during his youth, later trains Eira, and becomes a trusted planner and battlefield mage in Garrik's coalition.
Her temporal magic includes blinks, temporal barriers, defensive shielding, skyship protection, and attack redirection. She can redirect incoming attacks with temporal force, shield a skyship, move fast enough for her blinks to produce visible shockwaves, and use temporal power to delay a dying person's end. During the Attack on Kaldaryn, she drains surrounding essence, disrupts Eliona's skyship illusions, destroys attacking vessels, and dies as her essence returns to the world.
Background & History
In Soltheris, Isrynn advises and mentors Aurion alongside Astheron. She has a past relationship with Therion, gives birth to Kaelion, and keeps the full truth of Kaelion's parentage from both Kaelion and Aurion while Soltheris is already politically strained.
Her court duties often keep her away from home, though she teaches Kaelion when she can. She is eventually chosen for the council in Irrathis, leaving Kaelion in Soltheris because she believes council work will let her represent their nation. Kaelion later rises into her former advisor position and then joins the council himself after Isrynn disappears on a mission to the northern Keldaran mountains.
After leaving Xalmyrra, Isrynn travels through Valrindor with Khoradyn and alone while looking for Therion. She visits Thundermarch, Skarnheim, and Haverloch, and stays away longer than she intended as Valrindor's size and the shaper threat around Shroudvale, Maraveth, and Kaldaryn draw her deeper into the region.
In Thundermarch, Isrynn meets Jin and confirms that Therion is Kaelion's father. She also briefs Emperor Feng and his commanders on the shaper threat, joins the defense of Raindawn, and remains afterward with Yingshui and Zhang while the city rebuilds.
With Garrik's coalition, Isrynn scouts, advises, arranges logistics, and prepares Garrik's moves against Shroudvale and Maraveth. She travels to Brighthaven to procure skyships for Kaldaryn's communications, helps brief Kaelion after the Omberion siege, and remains a senior allied mage with Garrik's coalition.
Isrynn reunites with Kaelion in Laizhou. Years apart make the reunion difficult, but they speak honestly, embrace, and begin rebuilding trust. She encourages him to keep living his own life, trains Eira, and continues to fight beside the allied forces.
During the Attack on Kaldaryn, Splin brings Isrynn and Astheron away from the front to protect Kaelion. Isrynn shields Drendyll's skyship, blinks through hidden enemy vessels, breaks Eliona's concealment, and sacrifices herself to destroy the pursuing ships and buy Kaelion time to escape.

- Family: Kaelion is Isrynn's son. Tazarin / Therion is Kaelion's father and Isrynn's former partner. Aurion is Kaelion's half-brother through Therion/Tazarin.
