Overview
Mike is Medic Mike of Maraveth, a renowned medical researcher in the Malverand Intergalactic Empire. After Helena Hyperion's essence-made copy dies in Maraveth, he joins Isandro, Rafe, Eamon, and Amos in the research surrounding her preservation, the Maraveth Core, Zarephon, the void, and the breach between the two Valrindors.
Mike is tall, wears glasses, and has long white hair tied back in a ponytail. He wears a long green coat and carries a matching green backpack while transporting black-box devices.
Research and Technology
Mike's work joins medicine, nanotechnology, and high-security imperial research. He brings nanomachines after Thalena's essence-made body is shot, scans her essence, and he and Rafe contain her disintegrating particles in a specialized capsule. Malverand nanotech can copy and alter ancient magic, and the empire's cell-repair technology is based on divine healing.
Mike also studies the void and Malverand gates. The gates bend spacetime with extreme power draw, and the void compresses immense distances through a black-hole-like space. After Amos's void dives, Thalena's composition, the void entity, the imperial core, and Malverand nanites share overlapping traces.
At Zarephon, Mike and Rafe prepare black defensive constructs with latent intelligence. The constructs repel essence, can collapse if essence infects them, and can mimic neutral forms while protecting a breach. The construct sent through the Zarephon breach becomes Abraxas after passing into the other Valrindor, where the time disparity and essence-rich environment allow it to live far beyond the original experiment's expected contact window.
Abraxas later evolves from Mike and Rafe's black-box construct into an origin-magic user. Origin magic is nanite-mirrored technology based on ancient magic, and Abraxas evolves beyond the black-box design's intended use. Mike's later Vespera deployment uses the same research line: three Reflective Nanite Defense System devices, focused on defense and research, sent toward Vespera to test essence-integrating weapons against the Spiral Mandate.
History
Mike enters Maraveth after Thalena's essence-made copy dies in front of Isandro. As Medic Mike of Maraveth, he is a renowned imperial researcher and medical genius responsible for medical research and technological advances. Mike brings nanomachines, studies the scan data with Rafe and Eamon, preserves Thalena's remaining essence, and joins the discussion of the copied magic, reflective nanites, and Zarephon breach behind her essence-made body.
During the core emergency, Isandro sends Mike to warn the people involved. Mike checks Amos after his first return from the void, examines the scanner and capsules, and joins Rafe and Eamon in comparing the recovered traces.
Mike then continues the breach work at Zarephon. He and Rafe send a black defensive construct through the breach, and Mike remains at the site while Isandro returns to Maraveth. When Eira, Kaelion, and Xarion emerge from the breach, Mike and Rafe are the first Malverand researchers to meet them. Mike introduces himself, welcomes them to the Malverand Intergalactic Empire, and contacts Isandro's group immediately.
After the visitors reach Maraveth, Mike studies their bodies, essence levels, and origin-magic-like abilities. Abraxas is an evolved version of Mike and Rafe's black-box design. Mike then travels with Isandro, Eira, and Kaelion through Vireen and the Hyperion system. At Vespera, he fires three reflective nanite defense devices toward the planet to test essence-integrating weapons against the Spiral Mandate. On Meridian, he guides Eira and Kaelion to the Three Obelisks.

- Isandro: Mike answers directly to the emperor on Thalena's preservation, void research, breach experiments, and later travel through the Hyperion system.
- Rafe and Eamon: Mike collaborates with both advisors on the Maraveth capsules and Zarephon breach experiments.
