As Ozaryn, Maia was aggressive, challenged her allies and wanted to kill everyone opposing the invasion. After losing Ozaith, she became quiet and sought reassurance. She fears returning to Ulzathir.

Supported by Arinella's healing and Silas's essence cores, Aelius defeated her and left her badly burned. Ozaith's death deprived her of his shard, but she retained her own magic.
Maia feared that Ulzathir would kill her for failing to win. Virel comforted her, concealed her survival from the returning Ulzathir fleet and brought her to Morozkaya. Vianna gave her a home in Kyranthos, where she trains with Vianna and Virel.

After Benedict freed her, she left the collapsing Varnhallow with Thalion's fleet. In Malverand's past, she stayed with Thalion partly because she had found her sister Theia. She served the Order from Rimvold under the name Mia and accompanied Zero and Helena on the attack on Morindel. She helped Zero fight Eremion while Jarin carried Helena away.
Jazarel
At Jazarel, Zero told Maia that the battle was repeating and that Helena had to survive. Maia trusted him and agreed to protect her. She attacked Jeremiah and Thamrielle, then turned to intercept Helena as Thamrielle raised a volcano.
Maia held Helena in the air with aether magic, allowing Zero to throw her to safety. Thamrielle's lava overwhelmed Maia's shields and killed her. The loop did not restart.
