Astralem was a cold industrial city in the western mountains of Varnhallow, known for mining and construct production. Within the Varnhallow temporal anomaly, Benedict served as its divine patriarch.
The outer city stood on terraced mountain slopes, with buildings of wood and stone and a great hall carved into the cliff. A river below it flowed toward the sea. An abandoned gate lay far beneath the city, with an exit through the mountainside.
History
After Uriandel's forces devastated Astralynne, Astralem became Varnhallow's new capital. Michael and Sigvariel gathered their followers there before departing to create the temporal anomaly, leaving Isandriel to wait in the emptied city. In 2085 AX, the survivors of the anomaly arrived. Thalion declared independence from the Malverand Empire and renamed the city Rimvold, capital of Skarnheim.
The city within the anomaly disappeared when Varnhallow's temporal world collapsed.

Jin and Benedict tested new construct models in Astralem. The test worsened Varnhallow's instability and sent constructs through rifts. Jin suspected these were the machines that had attacked Skarnheim.
