Axanaxa

Overview

Axanaxa is the capital of Haverloch and the seat of the Axial Concord. The city displays Haverloch's devotion to Nahm, symmetry, precision, and perfected geometric order through its government, architecture, and public life.

The Hall of Reflections houses the Axial Concord's government chamber. Simon leads the Axial Concord from Axanaxa. Jarin Jassaro is the founder and planner who rebuilt the capital around symmetry.

Geography and Design

Axanaxa lies in Eastern Valrindor, within Haverloch. It has a port, docks, broad aligned streets, plazas, parks, outlying plains, and agricultural zones beyond the denser urban core. Travelers reach it by skyship, by boat, by routes along the Navan Sea, and by roads through Haverloch.

The city is vast: larger than Kyranthos and comparable in scale to Astralynne. Its central districts use mirrored architecture, reflective facades, geometric towers, black, gray, and white palettes, squared or cylindrical buildings, pristine parks, fountains, mirrored ponds, and trees trimmed into rigid forms. The outskirts include farms, forest approaches, dirt roads, half-finished structures, and looser construction beyond the controlled central districts.

Jareth's planning gives Axanaxa a layout and symmetry close to Atraxis Prime. Axanaxa is larger and uses a different palette.

Culture and Transit

Haverloch's ideals of symmetry, order, beauty, cleanliness, and precision govern public life in Axanaxa. Officials and mages wear carefully aligned black, white, gray, or geometric robes, move in coordinated patterns, and react strongly to asymmetry in clothing, hair, architecture, and movement.

Axanaxa uses vector magic for city travel. Vector carts run along fixed rails through aligned streets, and vector voyagers move above the city in precise geometric patterns. Flying inside the city is restricted. Higher-ranked mages and officials receive exceptions.

The capital also hosts diplomacy and military planning. Visitors from Thalassai, Skarnheim, Ulzathir, Morozkaya, and Xalmyrra pass through Axanaxa and the Hall of Reflections during trade, investigations, military planning, and international negotiations.

History

Before Jareth's reforms, the capital was called Haverloch City. Jareth arrived under the name Jarin Jassaro, joined the local council, helped turn that council into the Axial Concord, and began rebuilding the capital around symmetry, mirrors, glass, engines, and planned urban order.

By 2085 AX, the city is Axanaxa, capital of Haverloch and seat of the Axial Concord. Travelers from Rimvold, Skarnheim, and the Order later pass through Axanaxa during Malverand's aftermath. The Hall of Reflections houses the Concord in the mirrored architecture Jarin built for the city.

Helena Hyperion later lives with Sariel near Axanaxa's eastern outskirts. She studies in the city, passes Jarin's symmetry tests, and is accepted into the Axial Concord before her path eventually leads away from Haverloch.

After Varnhallow's collapse and Raphael's revival, Haverloch leaders use Axanaxa and the Hall of Reflections for diplomacy, investigations, and military planning. Virel, Remus, Simon, Celia, Eira, Thalena, Vianna, Maric, and Aelius pass through the city or the Hall of Reflections as Haverloch responds to Zain's rule in Ulzathir, Khauren's control of Zain, Gabriel's intervention, and Raphael's Malverand-aligned faction.

Features and Transit

  • Hall of Reflections, the mirrored government building and chamber of the Axial Concord.
  • Axanaxa's port and docks, used by trade ships, skyships, and visiting officials.
  • Vector carts that run on fixed rails through aligned streets.
  • Vector voyagers and other Haverloch air traffic above the city.
  • Pristine parks, fountains, mirrored ponds, reflective stairways, and geometrically pruned trees.
  • Eastern outskirts with farms, including the area where Sariel lives during Helena Hyperion's youth.
  • Northern outskirts and grid-like farmlands, including an arena used for training and combat practice.
Secrets and Mysteries

The geometric orb Jarin gave Nahm made Nahm and his followers more devoted to symmetry than Jarin intended. The Axial Concord also restricts knowledge of Malverand.
