Overview
Mirael is Brynor's wife, the mother of Braylen and Nereyne, and a powerful divine mage of the Xalmyrran Council. She speaks for Erenmyr in council concerns, works from the council's Irrathis circle, and often tempers Brynor's forceful style with calm restraint.
Appearance and Personality
Mirael is shorter and more delicate than Brynor, with golden or pale-blond hair and violet eyes. During the Erenmyr coastal defense, her hair is curly; while working near the darkness front, she wears it braided.
She is affectionate, practical, and firm. She loves Brynor deeply, but she corrects his boasting and impatience when a situation calls for diplomacy or caution. Around the council, she is trusted for steadiness, good judgment, and attention to the people endangered by the Land of Darkness, unstable politics, and Nerissa's Invasion of Xalmyrra.
Magic and Council Work
Mirael uses golden divine light to heal, raise barriers and shields, and form protective domes. She heals wounded allies, stabilizes Lirien after the Temple of no Return, heals Aurion after his injury near Maraveth, and tries to save Seralyth after the first orrery activation.
During Brynor's expedition into the Land of Darkness, Mirael carries the darkness repeller and channels essence into it to keep the group's golden dome active. She warns the group away from spiral flowers, pushes against reckless curiosity, and steadies the expedition through the corrupted terrain.
Mirael also handles council duties outside combat. She joins high-level council deliberations, records proceedings with Xandor, tracks diplomatic risks around Soltheris, inspects Aurion's mountain project at Zeydrith, and answers Aldar's questions about how Erenmyr would respond politically.
History
Mirael is part of Aldar's council circle during the decision to send Eira, Kaelion, and Lirien into the Land of Darkness. She and Brynor build a family life around Irrathis, and their children later spend time at Irrathis Magic School.
When Brynor returns to Irrathis after years away, Mirael reunites with him at the Imperial Institute and brings him home before the council gathers again. She later travels with him to Soltheris and Dravemir, tries to keep Aurion's instability contained before the first orrery activation, and joins council work against the spreading darkness.
After the Land of Darkness expedition, Mirael remains active as a healer and council member. She goes to Velundra when healers are needed, stays beside Brynor as his lost past resurfaces, travels with him to Maraveth and Omberion, and later stands with Xalmyrra's defenders during Nerissa's Invasion of Xalmyrra.
Relationships
- Brynor: Husband. Mirael grounds him, challenges him, and stays beside him through council missions, Nerissa's Invasion of Xalmyrra, and family life.
- Braylen and Nereyne: Children.
- Aldar: Council leader who relies on Mirael's steadiness and sends her into diplomatic and healing work.
- Aurion and Seralyth: Soltheris allies whose choices draw Mirael into Zeydrith, the first orrery activation, and Xalmyrra's fight against the spreading darkness.
- Xalmyrran Council: Mirael's main institution, where she records council proceedings with Xandor and serves in council circles that include Maelis, Lyssara, Orin, Kaelric, and Khoradyn.
Later Events
Mirael reunites with the restored Seralyth after Aurion uses the spiral shard to bring her back in an altered form. During Nerissa's Invasion of Xalmyrra, Brynor asks the defenders around him to tell Mirael and their children that he will return someday before he takes an essence bomb underground and disappears after the blast.
