Overview
Irrathis Magic School is a prestigious magical school in Irrathis. Eira and Cassian study there as children, and their friendship begins after Eira opens the locked room where classmates have trapped Cassian. The school remains active across later generations.
Description
The school stands along tiled roads in a wealthy, subdued district behind the Imperial Institute. Its arched entrance is flanked by proud pillars and flowering plants, and the building combines stone and glass. Inside are bright halls lit through enchanted glass, older stone rooms, forgotten classrooms, off-limits libraries, winding storage halls, and vast archives.
The school teaches children during their magical awakenings. Cassian enters as an unusually young divine mage. Teachers praise his talent, instructors study his progress, and classmates fear him. Eira's talent for opening doors, locks, and hidden places frustrates the teachers until they stop locking rooms against her.
History
Eira enters Irrathis Magic School after her early childhood in the orphanage. Her potential grows there, and she and Cassian become inseparable during their years at the school. They explore forgotten classrooms, off-limits libraries, and storage halls together, and Cassian becomes known for healing other children.
The school archives hold a copy of The Eleven Stories of Old, which Eira and Cassian read in childhood. Thalena writes a simpler version of the book for Eira and leaves it in the school library. The school copy ties Eira and Cassian's childhood reading to Arcanis, the cycles, Horol'Khai's versions of the text, and the planted histories that surface later.
During Brynor and Mirael's family period, Braylen and Nereyne spend their school days at Irrathis Magic School. Their school life overlaps with Xirane, and Brynor regards Nereyne as a prodigy during this period.
