Soltheris

Overview

Soltheris belongs to Xalmyrra's four primary nations, with Zeydrith as its capital. It has powerful cosmic mages, advanced essence technology, Soltheris-made airships, and the orreries designed by Thalvian under Aurion's command.

After Aurion abdicates, Daryas rules Soltheris, rebuilds homes and farms, meets with the Xalmyrran Council, and sends mages, airships, and supplies beyond Xalmyrra.

Geography & Layout

Soltheris lies within Xalmyrra, east of the four-nation meeting point around Lake Velisyth. Its capital, Zeydrith, stands east of Irrathis along roads and rail routes through Teryndal. Roads toward Soltheris and Zeydrith pass rebuilt villages, green farmlands, rivers, and lakes.

The nation includes the eastern Soltheris mountains, a storm-wrapped barrier where Aurion and Daryas search for a passage toward Thundermarch. Dravemir is Soltheris's fortified southern border city near the Land of Darkness and the kingdom's first line of defense.

Design & Architecture

Soltheris's most detailed architecture is in Zeydrith. The capital uses angular dark stone and cosmic-inspired design, with constellations inscribed into road tiles as guiding maps. Its skyline includes spires, astral glow, and the crystalline, opulent Luminary Halls.

The Luminary Halls contain gilded doors, grand stairs, high halls, cosmic glyphs, velvet-cushioned chairs, and an obsidian meeting table. After Thalvian's redesign, rebuilt Dravemir fortifications use dark stone, eastern-mountain obsidian, and a Zeydrith-like cosmic style.

Society & Culture

Soltheris values cosmic magic, royal ceremony, advanced engineering, formal robes, and pride in mastery and beauty. Its mages include military specialists, council delegates, advisors, travelers, and elite combatants.

Aurion is widely loved in Soltheris. He has political tensions with other Xalmyrran leaders. Daryas is accepted with surprising ease after Aurion's abdication because he had already handled much of the kingdom's administration.

Government & Power

Soltheris is a monarchy. King Thurion rules during the atraxi arrival, invites Jorhan and Belanor to present the atraxi before Xalmyrra's rulers, benefits from atraxi construction work, and later becomes wary of their essence use. Thurion is dead before the later confrontation with Jorhan and the atraxi. In a previous Xalmyrran cycle, King Therion stands with Aldred, Xandor, Orin, and Khoradyn during that confrontation and later founds Thalcoris and Tequaltor. In the current cycle, King Therion is Aurion's father and the Soltheris ruler whom Xoh'Tenol summons to Thalcoris as Emperor Tazarin. The current-cycle Soltheris royal line continues through Therion's son Aurion and then Daryas.

Aurion rules from the Luminary Halls during the Land of Darkness's advance against Soltheris. Kaelric, Daryas, Astheron, Seralyth, and Thalvian serve in or around his court, military command, and technological projects. During Aurion's reign, Daryas handles much of the practical administration.

As king, Daryas rebuilds houses, restores supplies and farms, readies commanders, scouts the mountain route, and meets with Teryndal, Erenmyr, Keldara, and the Xalmyrran Council.

Features & Locations

  • Zeydrith, Soltheris's capital and the home of the Luminary Halls.
  • Luminary Halls, the royal palace where Aurion, Daryas, and Soltheris leaders hold high-level meetings.
  • Dravemir, the fortified border city near the Land of Darkness.
  • The eastern Soltheris mountains and the passage project toward Thundermarch.
  • Soltheris-made airships, which are especially fast and outpace Teryndal's designs.
  • Orreries, advanced essence-harnessing devices invented by Thalvian under Aurion's command.

History

Soltheris stands among Xalmyrra's four nations by the atraxi arrival. King Thurion invites Jorhan and Belanor to present their people before Xalmyrra's rulers, and atraxi knowledge and construction reach Soltheris. By the later confrontation with Jorhan and Aldred, Thurion belongs to older history and Therion leads Soltheris among Xalmyrra's rulers in the previous-cycle founding branch.

During the War of Scars, the armies of Soltheris, Teryndal, Erenmyr, and Keldara clash until Arcanis ends the War of Scars. In later cycles, Soltheris and Teryndal stand against the encroaching darkness. The Xalmyrran Council gathers the four nations for joint decisions.

In Aurion's reign, Dravemir falls near the corrupted southern border, Zeydrith and its surrounding areas face possible evacuation, and Aurion searches the eastern mountains for a route beyond Xalmyrra's isolation. Aurion pushes Thalvian's orreries as devices to harness essence for defense and rebuilding. The project becomes politically charged after the cataclysm and Seralyth's death.

After the darkness quiets, Aurion abdicates and names Daryas as king. Daryas immediately rebuilds homes, restores supplies and farms, seeks aid from beyond Soltheris, and pursues the mountain passage. Soltheris hosts meetings in Zeydrith where Aurion offers orreries to Teryndal, Erenmyr, and Keldara as both aid and leverage.

Under Daryas, Soltheris maintains the rail route toward Thundermarch, continues governing from Zeydrith, and contributes mages, airships, and supplies beyond Xalmyrra.

Secrets and Mysteries

Soltheris hides secrets about its cosmic royal line, the orreries, the cataclysm, and the hidden fates of its rulers. Current-cycle Therion, believed lost to Xalmyrra, survives as Emperor Tazarin in Thalcoris. Aurion abdicates to Daryas, takes Jorhan's spiral shard, and uses its final power in Soltheris's deep cellars to return Seralyth in an altered form.
