Overview
Meridian is the main planet of the Hyperion system and a Kytherite source within the Malverand Intergalactic Empire. The empire funnels Meridian Kytherite toward the imperial system to power the Maraveth Core and build replacement cores.
Its capital, Novaris, is the Hyperion system's administrative center and houses the Meridian planetary authority. Deep below Novaris, an underground chamber contains the Three Obelisks, one of the empire's greatest mysteries.
Surface and Cities
From orbit, Meridian is an immense cyan-tinged planet with swirling fractal clouds, a darker storm region, cyan patches below the clouds, dark-teal and blue-green oceans, and vast pink deserts. The deserts are sand over rich soil and support pink-tinted trees with yellow trunks. Meridian is cool during Eira's visit, with clouds high above the ground and warpships visible near the atmosphere.
Novaris is the capital city of the empire in the Hyperion system and its surrounding lands. The city stands amid dusty-yellow soil and is mostly cyan-gray, built from processed Kytherite remains and steel. Its buildings are rounded, tall, and broad, and Mike leads Eira and Kaelion through ordered streets into a spacious hall.
Authority
Meridian has a planetary authority led by advisor Kate during Eira's visit. Novaris is overseen by Naomi, and cities beyond Novaris have overseers named Irina, Calvin, and Zara. Isandro handles official business with Luke. Mike guides Eira and Kaelion through Novaris.
Underground Chamber
Deep below Novaris, an elevator reaches a large chamber containing the Three Obelisks. Similar obelisk structures exist on various planets. The empire's best surveyors, including Atraxi, have failed to wake them.
Eira tests the Meridian obelisks with origin senses, divine senses, and blinking. The obelisks stay dormant through her tests. Kaelion then touches one with sun-golden power, causing purple inscriptions to flare, the chamber to shake, and Eira to barely sense Xoh’Tenol afterward.
