Jareth and Cyrena now lead the work. Researchers use the void to study technology that ambient essence would disrupt; Jareth rebuilt tools from Atraxis Prime. He partially reprogrammed Abraxas’s black box form to bind to a person. Following Jareth’s explanation of will and essence, Cassian infused his will into a small amount of essence and channeled it into the black box, giving Abraxas the purpose of bringing down the enemies of Thalassai. The box absorbed the essence, and Abraxas reformed and repeated that purpose.
The center also develops essence engines and equipment for restoring Malverand hearts. Eliona worked on Isaac’s dormant heart, which had not responded to her attempts. Jareth fed essence into Brynor’s heart with a containment device and reported a response from it.
