Overview
The Aethrendar Sea is a sea in Xalmyrra, used for travel around Irrathis and routes toward Velundra. The ancient Aethrendar Gate hangs high above its waters. Barachiel enters that portal before vanishing from Valrindor's side, and the atraxi use it to reach Xalmyrra.
Geography and Use
The sea lies near southern Irrathis, where docks and a port face its waters. Roads and travel routes near the shore give clear views of its waves and rocky coastline, and ships use it for journeys such as travel toward Velundra. The desolate plains of Irrathis lie north of the sea. From above, the sea and Lake Velisyth mark the approach to Erenmyr and Lirathen.
The sea's scale is visible from trains, airships, skyships, and high-altitude magical flight. Its waters are silver, blue-hued, iridescent, or mirror-like, and its depths are survivable only with exceptional magic.
Boats, sails, docks, ships, merchants, travelers, and airships operate around the sea, especially near Irrathis and along routes running toward Zeydrith and Velundra.

History
In the Malverand era, Arcanis establishes the main gate route to Vireen high above the Aethrendar Sea. Michael and Eremion pass through safely. Barachiel later enters the gate and vanishes from Valrindor's side. The spiral shard splits after his disappearance, and Malverand later declines as the guardians clash openly across the empire.
The atraxi arrive in Xalmyrra through the gate far above the Aethrendar Sea.
Before Jorhan's assault near Irrathis, Deylin descends more than a thousand paces into the sea using temporal and water magic. An ancient artifact lies beneath sediment in the depths; he recovers it, earns level nine recognition for the feat, and later gives the artifact to Ilyra.
During Jorhan's assault near Irrathis, the sea and its port become battlefields. A black sphere strikes toward the port where Eira's journey began, collapsing it and sending destructive force inland. As Jorhan's assault near Irrathis continues, he manipulates the sea itself, raising water, ice, waves, and tsunamis as weapons. Brynor also destroys the Aethrendar Gate above the sea, forcing enemies who depend on that route to seek another gate.
