Zorath is a Rahmavir chosen from Halvarim. He fights and plans alongside Ravira, Raphael, and later Gabriel as Raphael pursues the source in the Plains of Eternity and targets the returned Order.
Zorath is a close-combat specialist, battlefield commander, and warhammer fighter. He brings Maric and Nero to Ravira and Raphael for source talks, commands part of Raphael's coalition near Cyndarel, fights Garrik after attuning to a Gabriel crystal, and is killed by Alistair after Alistair takes Alice's form and uses the spiral shard.
Appearance
Zorath has long deep-red or amber hair and amber, fire-like eyes. When Maric and Nero first meet him in Halvarim, he wears a deep gray robe embroidered with weapon-like patterns over hidden silver armor.
When fighting, Zorath wears Rahmavir-style silver armor and carries a massive warhammer forged from essence cores. The hammer gleams with gold and blue hues from divine enchantments and cosmic glyphs. After he attunes to Gabriel's crystal, red lines run across his skin and his body radiates brightness.
Personality
Zorath is confident, casual, blunt, and physically expressive. He jokes, somersaults down stairs, nudges allies hard enough to move them, and downplays honors and danger. That ease sits beside a harsh loyalty to Rahmavir's cause, including his belief that the Order and its supporters must be destroyed for a peaceful world.
He trusts Raphael deeply despite Raphael's instability. Raphael has guided Zorath since childhood, giving him repeated gifts and showing him the world, and the chosen steady Raphael when his mind becomes erratic.
Abilities, Skills & Magic
Zorath earned his place among Halvarim's chosen through close-combat prowess. He can release heat, use blue flame, move with extreme speed and force, and fight powerful melee opponents directly.
Zorath is a divine, fire, and cosmic mage. His fire magic produces heat, blue flame, and explosive propulsion. His divine and cosmic magic reinforces his essence-core warhammer with enchantments and glyphs. Gabriel's crystal later gives him red lines across his skin; during the Battle for Cyndarel, his clash with Garrik shatters the warhammer, throws both fighters across the battlefield, and topples trees with the shockwave.
Background & History
When Maric and Nero infiltrate Halvarim under a Serekhai mercenary cover, Zorath approaches them and brings them to dine with Ravira and Raphael. He introduces himself as a leading Halvarim chosen. The source is a breach to another world, and Rahmavir seeks to close it before the Plains of Eternity consume Valrindor.
Zorath and Ravira then take Maric and Nero toward Zarephon and the source. Along the way, Zorath discusses the risks of origin magic, the deaths caused by failed attempts, Raphael's hold over Rahmavir's chosen, and Rahmavir's intent to integrate successful origin-magic users into its ranks.
As Raphael's coalition moves toward Cyndarel, Zorath and Ravira stand with Raphael at a Halvarim summit against the returned Order. Zorath assesses Blackcrag's defenses, prepares for the Battle for Cyndarel, and plans with Ralvon, Kjeldan, Torukhan, Eliona, and Azarion. Raphael gives him a massive essence-core warhammer for the Battle for Cyndarel.
At Cyndarel, Aldar's darkness veil surrounds the city. Zorath commands part of Raphael's trapped coalition. He orders mages to gather weapons, essence cores, armor, and shields; waits for Ravira's crystal shields to open an escape route; and then joins the breakout when the barriers begin to fail.
Outside the veil, Zorath attacks Garrik with his crystal-enhanced warhammer and blue flame. Their clash shatters Zorath's armor and hammer, hurls both fighters across the battlefield, and leaves Zorath badly injured. Alistair then reaches him, takes Alice's form, briefly shows a Raphael illusion, and kills him with a white-hot divine beam from the spiral shard. After Zorath's death, Gabriel's faction regroups under Eliona and Ravira.
Relationships
- Ravira: Ravira is Zorath's closest Rahmavir partner. Their tribes have recently united, and Zorath is deeply concerned for her survival.
- Raphael and Gabriel: Raphael is Zorath's childhood patron, leader, and source of gifts, including the essence-core warhammer. Gabriel empowers Zorath with a crystal during the Battle for Cyndarel.
- Rahmavir allies: Zorath plans and fights alongside Ralvon, Kjeldan, Torukhan, Eliona, Azarion, Myrelia, Severin, and Rahmavir-aligned forces.
- Enemies: Zorath fights the returned Order and its allies, including Garrik and Aldar. Alistair becomes his killer after taking Alice's form.
