Overview
Rowenna Ironvale is an Adventurers' Guild adventurer, Dorian's longtime partner, and Cassian's adoptive mother. She and Dorian raise Cassian in Teryndal, encourage him toward school and a life of service, and remain his parents in practice. Orin and Hrzai are Cassian's biological parents. After timerift events carry them into Valrindor's past, Rowenna and Dorian settle in the Morozkayan village that becomes Kyranthos and become Morozkaya's first diarchs.
Adventuring and Cassian
Rowenna belongs to the Ironvale household in Teryndal and shares Dorian's old adventuring life with Aldar. She and Dorian pick up the guild quest arranged by Thalena and Orin, joining the westward voyage where Aldar takes infant Cassian into his care and passes him to Rowenna.
As Cassian grows, Rowenna raises him as his mother. She comforts him on his first day at the Irrathis Magic School, reminds him that his magic is meant for others, and backs Dorian's decision to send him out of Teryndal. Aldar later admits that he asked Dorian and Rowenna to push Cassian outward so Xarion would notice him and Cassian could ground Xarion's ambition.
Varnhallow and Kyranthos
Timerifts take Rowenna and Dorian into Varnhallow while Thalion's displaced group prepares to move against Malverand's surviving guardians. Zero protects them, and Viviana teaches Rowenna rudimentary ice magic. Zayren and the other fighters keep Rowenna and Dorian away from direct combat. After Rowenna is kind to Vianna, Vianna begins reassessing Cassian's side, and Aurelia becomes attached to both Rowenna and Dorian during the same period.
Rowenna and Dorian leave Thalion's army and stay in a struggling Morozkayan village. They ask Vianna to tell Cassian they love him, accept the villagers' call for them to become elders, begin practical work such as redirecting the river, and receive Pyrathalor when Vianna brings him to his future home.
Death in Kyranthos
Rowenna and Dorian age normally in Kyranthos and die there after serving as the settlement's inaugural diarchs. Their funeral uses Pyrathalor's fire and ice, following the tradition they wanted so their remains would nourish the land. Cassian later receives their final message that they loved him.
