Character Network Timeline

Kazimir is one of Morozkaya's leaders, alongside Kyrana. Radomir mentions the two during a gathering called by Sigurd, which Morozkaya does not attend.

Kazimir was an ice mage and one of the two diarchs of Morozkaya, ruling alongside Kyrana from Kyranthos. He trained Vianna after Pyrathalor chose her as his wielder and helped prepare the invasion of Thalassai. Thalena killed him during the campaign.

Appearance

Kazimir had white hair and a long, angular white beard.

Personality

Kazimir was reserved and usually composed. He could be stern in training, but grew fond of Vianna and showed pride when she surpassed him. He valued Morozkaya's independence and questioned the freedom of nations under Kaldaryn's rule. He generally opposed involvement in foreign politics, though Pyrathalor's capture led him to seek allies for war.

Magic

Kazimir raised immense walls and mountains of ice for protection and attack. He contained Vianna's uncontrolled magic in an ice barrier and countered Aelius's flames with another during the invasion. After Thalena wounded his shoulder, he froze the injury and healed himself.

History

Morozkaya and Brighthaven

Kazimir and Kyrana trained Vianna in the arena behind the Ember Spire.

After Virel warned that Thalassai might attack nations that worshipped gods, Kazimir and Kyrana agreed to consider an alliance if Morozkaya was threatened.

After Vianna defeated both of them, they helped make a glaive for her and welcomed her into Morozkaya's council.

When Isaac requested help against Alistair in Brighthaven, Kazimir initially objected to intervening. Pyrathalor negotiated future military assistance and trade in return. Kazimir then led an elite force to Radiance Prime, leaving Kyrana to govern Morozkaya. Kazimir and his mages enclosed the Spire of Triumvirate with elemental barriers to keep reinforcements away while Isaac, Vianna and Pyrathalor attacked inside.

Thalassai invasion

After Pyrathalor was captured, Kazimir ordered the armies readied and sought support from other nations. He assembled a force to help fight the shapers near Skarnheim, hoping to earn assistance against Thalassai, but the shapers were defeated before they arrived. He later signed a non-aggression pact with Garrik.

Kazimir joined the force sent through the southern darkness toward Chronasis. He accepted Virel's plan to fight Thalena alongside Kyrana and Vianna, insisting that Vianna survive even if he did not. Facing Thalena, he promised to withdraw Morozkaya's forces immediately if she returned Pyrathalor.

Kazimir repeatedly attacked with ice mountains, trying to interrupt Thalena's spells. When she completed her black hole and enclosed them in a divine shield, he could not escape the black hole's pull. The black hole consumed him, then Kyrana. Isaac broke the shield and detonated the black hole. Vianna survived the blast behind the other mages' barriers and returned to lead Morozkaya with its council.

Relationships

  • Kyrana: His fellow diarch, sharing government, Vianna's training and the campaign to recover Pyrathalor.
  • Vianna: His pupil and council colleague. Kazimir helped give her a home in Morozkaya and placed her survival above his own.
  • Pyrathalor: Morozkaya's god. Kazimir sought his return because Morozkaya's lava and water flows had weakened without him, and committed his forces to recovering him.
