Overview
Kyrana is a Morozkayan diarch and council leader in Kyranthos, ruling Morozkaya alongside Kazimir under Pyrathalor's protection. She is a powerful fire and earth mage, Vianna's instructor, and a Morozkayan leader in the invasion of Thalassai after Thalena captures Pyrathalor.
Appearance and Manner
Kyrana has flowing red hair that moves like living flame and crimson eyes. Her manner is intense and restless: she presses arguments sharply in council, reacts quickly when Morozkaya is threatened, and is gentle toward Vianna after accepting her as part of Morozkaya.
Abilities
Kyrana fights with destructive heat, fire, lava, and volcanic stone. She trains Vianna alongside Kazimir until Vianna defeats them both in sparring, then teaches Vianna earth magic, including how to shape and solidify volcanic stone and draw water from melting ice for Kyranthos. Against Thalena, Kyrana uses molten lava, firestorms, molten rocks, purple flame, and white-hot flame; Virel assigns her to the fight because extreme heat, together with Kazimir's cold and Vianna's frostfire, can disrupt Thalena's aether and temporal casting.
History
Pyrathalor brings Vianna to the Ember Spire as his wielder, and Kyrana and Kazimir take responsibility for strengthening her. Kyrana and Kazimir train Vianna until the people of Kyranthos accept her as part of Morozkaya. Kyrana joins Kazimir, Ivan, and Liana in making the Glaive of Frost and Fire, and welcomes Vianna into Morozkaya as her home.
When Isaac asks Morozkaya for aid in Brighthaven, Kyrana argues that Morozkaya does not usually involve itself in foreign politics, then remains behind to lead Morozkaya while Kazimir takes a small force. After Pyrathalor is captured, Kyrana steadies Vianna, promises they will recover him, and goes to Isaac to ask Brighthaven for aid.
Kyrana joins the expedition to recover Pyrathalor from Thalassai. Virel names Kyrana, Kazimir, and Vianna as the direct counters to Thalena's magic, and Kyrana fights Thalena with lava and high-intensity flame. Thalena traps the group with a golden shield and a singularity; Kyrana resists with molten lava and a final burst of fire before the vortex consumes her. Morozkaya returns to Kyranthos without Pyrathalor, Kazimir, or Kyrana, leaving Vianna and the surviving council to steady the country.
