Earth is a planet with very little essence, and the original home of David Vorrel. Its people use cars, computers, and artificial intelligence. Their technology also supports space travel, flying transport, and powerful manufactured weapons.
Lake Lucerne lies beneath the Alps, where David studied a patch of cold, dark fog near his cabin. In 2040, his experiments carried him through the fog to Xalmyrra.

History
The pyramid gate was made from Earth materials and powered by electricity. Deylin built equipment to reactivate it, but it brought him and Thalena to Earth in 1901 rather than his departure year, 2040. Crete and Rome lay along their route to the Alps.
After returning Deylin to Valrindor, Thalena collapsed the gate into a pebble. At the Alpine foothills, she drained nearby vegetation for power and widened an existing spatial tear. She lived on Earth for 140 years, building the cabin near Lake Lucerne and contributing to communication technology. Eventually, David bought the cabin and crossed the rift; Thalena followed him and closed it.

History
Ancient visitors
Thalion and Abraxas arrived on ancient Earth after Thalion broke the veil of Abraxas’s enclosing spell. The resulting timerifts leaked essence into the region. Abraxas closed them, leaving one small rift near the Alps at Thalion and Ozaith’s request.
Ozaith designed and built a gate beneath the largest pyramid. Thalion enchanted the workers, gathered materials, and supplied lightning to power it. He also carved its inscription, Welcome to Planet Dirt. His stories of Valrindor figures inspired local statues, while his construction knowledge influenced marble buildings and columns. Eira later found Thalion and Abraxas and brought them back to Erenmyr through the Alpine rift; they did not use the pyramid gate.

The divine Helena Hyperion, distinct from Thalena, taught astrophysics and cosmology at an Earth university for over twenty years. She took her student Isaac through the Alpine rift and onward to her own Valrindor. Her learning on Earth and its technology contributed to Malverand’s core research.

Malverand observation
The Malverand Intergalactic Empire classifies Earth as an observed planet. Contact is forbidden except for concealed scientific research, and visiting ships require approval and the core’s guidance. Earth is not integrated into the empire.
Xarion, Ozaith, and Rafe visited physically in 2040. They confirmed that the pyramid gate was gone and found the Alpine rift still present in that year. Rafe secretly altered David’s equipment to detect essence, enabling the crossing that led him to Xalmyrra.
