Overview
The Maraveth War takes place at ruined Maraveth, where Garrik's coalition moves against Shroudvale and later clashes with Eremion and Blackcrag over the city, the central black tower, and the hidden Malverand vault.
The Maraveth War begins as Garrik's attempt to eliminate the remaining Shroudvale shapers. It becomes a longer standoff after Eremion brings Blackcrag's forces to Maraveth, and the Malverand vault beneath the ruined city keeps both sides fixed on the front.
Course
Garrik gathers forces through Laizhou and advances on Maraveth with Kaldaryn's army, allies from Shaoying and Thundermarch, and troops from western and central Valrindor nations and city-states. His public target is the shaper threat. His private goal is to keep Maraveth's old Malverand secrets out of Eremion's hands.
In 5365 AX, Garrik's party enters Maraveth and reaches the region near the black tower. Eremion arrives with Blackcrag skyships before Garrik's side can investigate the hidden spaces beneath the tower. Garrik holds the line with divine and earth magic, Jin fights beside him with Tianlei's power, and Eremion withdraws and avoids a decisive fight.
After Garrik's first push into Maraveth, he begins building a fortified settlement outside the ruins. Roads, walls, waterworks, and supply routes spread across the dead land. Blackcrag constructs its own positions at a distance. The black tower keeps both armies focused on Maraveth, and the front settles into a long stalemate.
Eremion's Defeat
In 5368 AX, Garrik advances again after the shapers are defeated near Skarnheim. Eremion meets him near the central tower with Blackcrag's skyship fleet and high-level mages. Raphael's side pushes the confrontation to draw Thalena to Maraveth.
Thalena intercepts Eremion when his plasma bombardment threatens Garrik's army. Their duel moves away from Garrik's line, and Garrik's forces press through the remaining Blackcrag lines. Thalena defeats Eremion and questions him. Khauren turns on him through the flame-shard bond: red-line origin magic spreads from Eremion's palm, destroys his restored body, and leaves only his Malverand heart. Thalena takes the heart before leaving for Varnhallow.
Aftermath
Eremion's defeat breaks Blackcrag's strongest position at Maraveth and allows Garrik to push toward Omberion. The vault beneath the black tower still draws Garrik's allies and Raphael-aligned forces to the ruins. The Malverand vault later proves to be an artifact repository containing god cores, Malverand hearts, second-generation cores, shield generators, weapons, prototype engines, and stasis casings.
By Eremion's defeat at Maraveth, Garrik's command reaches across central and western Valrindor, whose nations and city-states have answered his call. That support gives him the manpower to oppose Eremion. Other factions fear he is becoming a conqueror.
