Character Network Timeline

Seralyth was queen of Soltheris, Aurion's wife and a divine healer. She led Soltheris's healers and died in the Cataclysm.

Appearance

Seralyth had blue eyes and golden hair streaked with silver.

Personality

Seralyth cared for Soltheris's wounded and supported an orphanage. She defended Aurion while fearing that his recklessness would kill him. Despite her devotion to healing, she supported his proposal to drain condemned rogue mages instead of executing them.

Magic

Seralyth healed burns and other injuries, though healing did not remove the exhaustion from Aurion's draining.

History

Seralyth took part in Aurion's court at the Luminary Halls. She treated people injured in fighting and an explosion in Zeydrith, returning to the wounded after the blast threw her across the plaza. As the darkness threatened Soltheris's villages, she proposed bringing their inhabitants to Zeydrith for protection.

She attended the demonstration of Thalvian's orrery outside Zeydrith, hoping its power could help healers. During the cataclysm that followed, a shockwave breached Aurion and Mirael's barriers and killed her. Mirael repaired her injuries, but Seralyth remained lifeless. Aurion carried her body home, devastated by her death.

Relationships

  • Aurion: She loved and defended him while fearing the cost of his ambitions. Her death left him without the wife who had helped steady him.
  • Kaelion: She sometimes guided him when he was a young adviser and defended his criticism of Aurion as useful to Soltheris.
  • Mirael: They worked together as healers, and Mirael tried to save her after the cataclysm.

After her reconstruction, she uses darkness magic to restrain enemies, form shields and carry people with tendrils. She also uses life magic, growing living branches and leaves from worked wood.

History

Queen of Soltheris

Reconstruction and service

At Aurion's request, Daryas kept her body cold beneath the Luminary Halls. After Omberion's attack, Aurion used his failing spiral shard to reconstruct her body with white and dark particles, forcing her heart to beat. The shard shattered as she revived.

Seralyth joined Kaelric in preparing Xalmyrra's defense and later traveled across Xalmyrra to destroy its remaining darkness patches. She helped defend Erenmyr, carrying Mirael down from a skyship with her tendrils and restraining a powerful lightning mage whom Brynor buried underground.

At the Valrindor Council, she pledged to help wherever the darkness appeared, fighting for Valrindor rather than representing Soltheris. She demonstrated her life and darkness magic as the council prepared its first expedition to Ithyreon.

Thalena's account

In Thalena's Shores of Eternity, Seralyth escaped the failed Ithyreon expedition. She returned with Drendyll and reported the unusually powerful darkness beasts to the council, urging caution around the inhabitants who had survived among them.

Relationships

  • Aurion: The queen loved and defended him while fearing the cost of his ambitions. The revived Seralyth was grateful that he had given her life and wanted to protect the world as he intended. Before his death, she told him she was not his wife and thanked him for restoring her.
  • Kaelion: As queen, she sometimes guided him when he was a young adviser and defended his criticism of Aurion as useful to Soltheris.
  • Mirael: They worked together as healers. Mirael embraced Seralyth when they met after her reconstruction, and Seralyth protected her during Erenmyr's defense.
