Character Network Timeline

Jeremiah was a guardian of Malverand and the ruler of Jazarel. He broke away from the Malverand Empire and sought to expand his own empire into neighboring lands. He wielded earth and cosmic magic, using both to build and defend his city. Isandriel killed him after Jazarel's destruction.

Appearance

Jeremiah had gray eyes and wore white robes with silver accents.

Personality

Jeremiah valued his citizens' lives and took pride in Jazarel's architecture and defenses. He trained generations of young mages and wanted them to survive the guardians' wars. When Vianna threatened his city, he abandoned his pursuit of her to protect it. His concern for Jazarel coexisted with his attempts to claim other guardians' territory, including western Skarnheim.

Abilities

Jeremiah wielded an earth shard and had a Malverand Heart. He raised walls and hills, enclosed enemies in stone and traveled on floating slabs of rock. He combined these defenses with cosmic barriers, beams and summoned meteors. He maintained barriers to keep the debris from reaching Jazarel.

His heart restored the arm Isandriel disintegrated when the Order attacked him. He then broke Sylvia's temporal restraint and escaped on a slab of rock.

History

Malverand and Jazarel

After Barachiel disappeared, Jeremiah separated Jazarel from Malverand. He welcomed a border city that had rebelled against Isandriel and offered refuge to people fleeing Jorhan's advancing corruption. When Isandriel proposed reducing essence use, Jeremiah instead wanted to use the restored land to increase Jazarel's prosperity.

The guardian wars

Thalion and Ignatius sent Vianna, Kren and Aurelia to attack Jazarel. Vianna and Kren claimed allegiance to Abraxas and Uriandel. Jeremiah trapped and wounded Vianna, but she and Kren threatened further attacks on the city. He returned to defend it and let them escape.

Jeremiah sent Thaddeus to Rimvold to secure support against Uriandel. In exchange for helping Skarnheim recover its occupied land, he demanded its western territory. Thalion accepted the arrangement while preparing to turn the guardians against one another.

Jeremiah fought Uriandel while Isandriel and the Order of Thalion Zenith posed as Uriandel's allies. The Order attacked him, and Isandriel destroyed his arm. His heart repaired the damage, allowing him to escape, but his army was wiped out.

While Jeremiah was away, Raphael attacked Jazarel. Thalion's other agents had attacked Morindel in Jeremiah's colors, drawing Eremion into the conflict as well. Zero and Theia received Jeremiah aboard their skyship and claimed to support him. They reported evacuating his citizens, then delayed his return while he recovered his strength. Jeremiah thanked them and asked that Jazarel survive even if he died.

He returned to defend the city against Raphael. Jazarel also had weaponized constructs and skyships for its defense. Thalion and Isandriel released Jazarel Lake in a flood that destroyed most of the city. The Order then attacked the assembled guardians. Igor found Jeremiah beneath the ground and brought him to Isandriel. Jeremiah condemned the destruction and questioned Isandriel's obedience to Barachiel and Michael. He finally accepted that the guardians had become harmful without Barachiel. Isandriel disintegrated him with Tal'Massar's power.

Relationships

  • Uriandel: A rival guardian serving Abraxas. Jeremiah marched against him after the attacks on Jazarel.
  • Isandriel: A fellow guardian whose rebellious border city Jeremiah welcomed into Jazarel. Isandriel later helped provoke the war, attacked him alongside the Order and killed him after his city's destruction.
  • Zero and Theia: They presented themselves as loyal mages helping him defend Jazarel. Their assistance and reported evacuations earned his trust while they served Thalion's plan.

History

Malverand and Jazarel

Barachiel brought Jeremiah to the council as a child with exceptional magical potential. Michael and Raphael trained him, and he demonstrated his cosmic magic by calling down a meteor. He later taught at Maraveth's elite magical academy.

Jeremiah and Uriandel worked closely with Arcanis on the empire's technology. Like the other guardians, he received a Malverand heart. When the empire divided its administration among them, he and his advisors founded Jazarel in the south. He continued working with Arcanis on devices for storing essence and creating new magic, and took part in the experiment that created Hrzai.
