Overview
The Battle west of Tharendur is the ambush on Eira, Kaelion, Xarion, Marcellus, and Kazehiro after they leave Tharran and continue west toward the Plains of Eternity and the source. About thirty attackers close in, including Azarion, Ravira, Soria, Severin, Myrelia, and Myrdon. The ambush west of Tharendur fails, and Eliona and Alice negotiate a temporary agreement to close the source and move against Raphael.
Battle
About thirty attackers close in on the road west of Tharendur. Eira engages Azarion directly and survives his divine-air blasts through her own power, Hrzai casting alongside her, and the Malverand heart. Their duel tears apart the terrain with craters, shockwaves, fire, molten ground, and repeated regeneration.
Kaelion first fights Ravira, whose prismatic rays pierce his defenses and whose liquid-glass shields redirect his attacks. Xarion then takes over against Ravira and Soria. Kaelion fights two divine mages. In the dense essence of the Plains, those two mages heal through severe injuries.
Xarion uses gravity, golden lightning, and a meteor-scale attack against Ravira and Soria. The impact devastates the battlefield and forces Marcellus and Kazehiro south toward Solvarria. By the end, Severin survives badly wounded, Myrdon is dead, Myrelia is knocked out after attacking Kaelion, and the surviving attackers are scattered. Ravira later resurfaces alive.
Truce
Eliona and Alice reach the battlefield after following Azarion's trail from the source. They shield Eira and Azarion from the meteor debris wave, then ask Eira's side to close the source with them. Eira maims Azarion in retaliation for Splin and the Attack on Kaldaryn. Kaelion agrees to hear Eliona out.
The negotiation exposes the misunderstanding behind the ambush: Raphael's side believed the Order wanted the source's power. Eira's group had come to close it. Eira sets the price for cooperation: Eliona and Azarion must join the strike against Raphael. The surviving group then travels toward Zarephon in Rahmavir skyships. To Rahmavir's public forces, Eliona's group transports Eira's party as prisoners. Privately, the truce remains in force.
