Overview
Tharendur is a nation in northeastern Valrindor, north of Ulzathir, with Tharran as its capital. It shares an ocean border with Solvarria and becomes threatened by both Zain's expansion after Solvarria's fall and the spreading Plains of Eternity.
Geography
Tharendur sits near Solvarria, the Plains of Eternity, Ereshval, and Varnhallow. A short stretch of ocean separates it from Solvarria, with Tharendur positioned above Solvarria on the regional map. After Solvarria falls, the Plains lock Tharendur in from one side, Ereshval remains distant, and Varnhallow blocks the western border.
Its coast has crystalline shores, blue grass, green-hued sky, and strange trees, some growing sideways from cliffs. Near the Plains, dense essence drops away completely after only a few hundred paces, marking a hard border between Tharendur and the essence-saturated region. Bark-skinned villagers live near that border. The road from Tharran through Myriandel toward Zarephon is the easiest path to follow for travelers trying to avoid disorientation in the Plains.
History
Thalassai initially knows Tharendur and Solvarria as unfamiliar nations north of Ulzathir. As Zain expands, Tharendur becomes an expected future target after Solvarria. By the time Eira, Kaelion, and Xarion travel toward the source, the Plains have nearly consumed both Myrravel and Tharendur and have begun pressing farther north toward Ashtarim.
During Eira, Kaelion, Xarion, Marcellus, and Kazehiro's journey toward the source, they choose the lowest-discovery route through Tharendur. The northern approach has unpredictable risks, and the southern approach risks contact with Raphael's alliance. They pass through Tharran, investigate the border holding back the Plains, then continue west of Tharendur and are intercepted in the Battle west of Tharendur. Afterward, Hadrian meets Kazehiro and Marcellus after they arrive from Tharendur; together they lock down Solvarria and cut off its trade lines with Ulzathir.
