Lythenmere Lake lies west of Velundra in southern Teryndal, beside Nythenfall Apex. Trees surround its still water, which glints silver and blue, and grassy banks meet a sandy shoreline. The nearby essence tower extends partly into the lake.
History
Eira visited with Lirien to investigate the ruins beneath the water. When she used magic to search for an entrance, she saw a vision of a shard and an old mage, then collapsed. Ilyra healed her and carried her back to Velundra.

Submerged ruins
A dome with a massive metal door stands among the ruins on the lakebed. Stairs inside descend to a lower door and a cavern containing an abandoned town. The town has rigid, angular buildings. The cavern also contains the base of Nythenfall Apex and another lake. A half-circle gate near the underground lake bears symbols resembling those on the Aethrendar Gate.

Xarion later explored the site with Maric, who parted the water and formed a bubble around them. They discovered the underground town and gate, then found Ilyra stranded below. Without essence cores, she could not open the heavy door beneath the lake. They brought her out, and Xarion commissioned further investigation.
During the darkness advance on Velundra, Maelis reported that most of Lythenmere Lake had been consumed.

Brynor later entered the dome and descended through the town. He activated the gate and traveled through the void to Atraxis Prime.
