George

Character Network Timeline

George was king of the Blackcrag Dominion, ruling from Omberion, and the adoptive father of Garrik.

Appearance

George had teal eyes.

History

George governed Blackcrag with its council. He refused to attack Shroudvale, considering the shapers too dangerous and recalling the destruction left by earlier wars. He sent Garrik to seek diplomatic contact with Morindel, accompanied by Ulrich and Astrid.

His health declined as Garrik took on more council work. George began guiding him personally and admitted that he was not his biological father. He had obtained Garrik as an heir through an agreement that prevented him from naming the boy's father. He apologized for his earlier distance and assured Garrik that he would rule well.

George supported Eremion after Astrid restored the guardian. He trusted the improvements Eremion brought to Blackcrag and appointed him as Garrik's second. Within days, George died in his sleep. Garrik suspected Eremion had assassinated him, but had no proof. George's body was wrapped in ceremonial basalt cloth and lowered into the lava pits in the volcanic mountains.

Relationships

  • Garrik: His adopted son and intended successor. George left much of his instruction to Ulrich and Astrid before taking a closer role in his final years.
  • Eremion: His advisor. George trusted him to help Garrik govern and dismissed Garrik's suspicions about his intentions.

George was a divine mage and king of the Blackcrag Dominion, ruling from Omberion. He adopted Garrik, the son of Lucilla and Nero, as his heir.

Appearance

George had teal eyes and graying golden hair. He wore a red and gold cloak.

History

George had outlived two heirs and his previous queen. He traveled to Pelagia with Ulrich and Bastian to seek an alliance against Shroudvale. When Lucilla refused military involvement, he demanded a powerful heir in exchange for keeping Thiravos and Theryssa secret. Blackcrag also agreed to teach engineers from Thiravos and Theryssa to build better essence engines.

Lucilla bore Garrik with Nero, who delivered the child to Omberion. George announced that his queen had given birth and concealed the child's origins. He named the boy Garrik and chose Astrid as his teacher. Nero stayed as a guest, but George forbade him from seeing Astrid or Garrik.
