After Lunorax's death left agriculture and exports without an overseer, Cassian accepted Thalena's recommendation to make Arinella a chronarc. Her divine and resonance expertise did not fill the agricultural role. He then appointed Deylin to oversee agriculture and technological research, and Ilyra to train and organize healers. Astryx and Nethira also worked on trade routes, while Astryx traveled to capitals along the planned train route.

Origins
Thalena created the chronarc positions after becoming archon of Space and Time, appointing elite assistants to oversee Chronasis alongside her. Other archons followed her example with differently titled officials for their own cities. Lunorax became a chronarc in his twenties and later served as her second in command. He resigned as archon of air and remained her chronarc. The decision was not fully his own: Thalena needed him close because he alone knew the depth of her plans.

When Deylin disappeared, agriculture again lacked a chronarc to oversee it. Calythos supplied experienced people to help while Cassian had not yet chosen a replacement.

Lunorax later returned to his office and resumed work in Chronasis. Astryx was killed during the campaign against Ulzathir. Anshar managed affairs so efficiently that Cassian considered formally granting him a chronarc position.
