Pyrenis archon
Ignaros is the Thalassai archon of fire and ruler of Pyrenis, the volcanic city known for its forges, colosseum, military strength, and volcanic ice cream. He shares Thalassai's core archon council with Thalena, Naryon, Calythos, and Zephyra.
He is a powerful fire mage and former Celestial Games champion. Thalassai's archons hold equal power on paper. Ignaros and the other archons follow Thalena's lead.
Appearance and Personality
Ignaros wears crimson robes in Pyrenis and has amber or fire-colored eyes. He looks close to Kaelion's age.
Ignaros is boisterous, friendly, theatrical, and openly proud of Pyrenis. He welcomes visitors with duels, cooking, feasts, and volcanic ice cream, often shifting formal meetings toward recipes or celebrations. His humor sits beside serious command: in councils he presses for strategy, speaks with force when decisions matter, and returns immediately to Pyrenis when the region is threatened.
Magic and Skills
Ignaros is an archon-level fire mage whose flames overwhelm defenses and fill arenas during combat. Jin struggles against him when first training in Pyrenis, and Ignaros later defeats Calythos in a friendly archon sparring match.
Ignaros trains fire-aligned mages through harsh duels, military drills, and daily life in Pyrenis. Jin studies fire under him until he can match Ignaros, while Kaelion trains under Ignaros and Hadrian to strengthen his sun magic. Ignaros also shows Pyrenis's practical fire culture through cooking, forging, culinary devices, and his signature volcanic ice cream.
History
Ignaros is Pyrenis's archon in a unified Thalassai governed by five regional archons. Pyrenis under Ignaros emphasizes fire magic, windweavers, military training, forges, and food culture.
When Jin travels through Thalassai, Ignaros receives him in Pyrenis with duels and cooking. He later invites Kaelion to train in Pyrenis after an archon meeting, arguing that Kaelion's sun magic will flourish under fire instruction. In Pyrenis, Ignaros and Hadrian push Kaelion through sparring, military drills, colosseum training, palace training, and cooking.
Ignaros remains active in Thalassai's councils. Ships and windweavers cannot pass the wall in the western oceans, so he urges attention toward Thalcoris and Xalmyrra and proposes that Thalassai's imperators and legati gain voting rights when Cassian is chosen as archon of time.
During the Attack on Pyrenis and its aftermath, Ignaros commands Pyrenis directly. Cassian warns him that Pyrenis will be attacked within hours, and Ignaros immediately assembles forces, oversees the forging of new weapons, patrols by windweaver, and remains in Pyrenis while Marcellus leads rescues alongside him after tsunamis and earthquakes devastate the region.
