Valrindor Atlas Timeline

Thalmyris is a port city and region of Thalassai on the southeastern coast of Xolterra. It is governed by the archon of water, Naryon. Its harbor supports maritime trade.

Geography and city

The city spreads along a pale shoreline, with terraced homes perched against rolling hills. Lakes lie outside its borders, and hills, winding rivers and forests extend inland. A stone road connects Thalmyris with Pyrenis and Chronasis.

The Palace of Water is built in terraces with aqueducts, stone arches and blue lights. Its courtyards and hallways contain flowing fountains, and paintings depict ancient nautical scenes. It also has a library and guest rooms. Naryon taught Jin Leiyun water magic there, while scholars recorded Jin's journeys.

Cargo ships use the harbor, and vessels with blue sails trade with the other Thalassai regions. Some smaller boats combine enchanted fittings with water magic to propel themselves across the sea.

History

Khoradyn founded Thalmyris after the ancient escape from Xalmyrra. Along with Orin, he helped establish the Thalassai people in Xolterra.

Darkness at sea

As darkness spread across the southern islands, Naryon and Pontarius rescued a village and reported attacks by darkness creatures. Pontarius prepared defenses for Thalmyris and Pyrenis.

History

Founding

Khoradyn founded Thalmyris after the ancient escape from Xalmyrra. Along with Orin, he helped establish the Thalassai people in Xolterra.

Internal war

Helena provoked the Internal Thalassai War by killing Chronasis's archon and blaming the other regions for the attack. Pyrenis ships destroyed Thalmyris's ports. Helena also drowned a town in Aetherion and directed suspicion toward Thalmyris's water mages, prolonging the fighting. Her trained army eventually defeated the warring regions, and Thalassai began rebuilding.

After Pontarius became water archon, a storm forced the navy to evacuate Thalmyris's port. Fishermen and traders fled, but one ship was lost. Naryon subsequently succeeded Pontarius, who returned to the seas as Thalassai's admiral.
