The Temple of no Return is a dormant temple in the mountains of the Land of Darkness, in southern Xalmyrra.
Structure
Dark metal is fused with stone in its walls. While the temple was active, its shape distorted, its interior walls could not be touched, and time had no reliable passage. Its metallic doors bore unfamiliar glyphs. Eira saw a second door that Kaelion and Lirien could not see.
History
For decades, people entered the temple without returning. In the previous Xalmyrran cycle, guided by Arcanis's texts, the Xalmyrran Council sent Eira to retrieve the spiral shard, accompanied by Kaelion and Lirien. Eira reached the shard and removed it, leaving the temple cold and lifeless, with its shifting interior gone.
In the current Xalmyrran cycle, the Council assigned Lirien and Kaelion to the temple, while Eira was sent to Lythenmere. Lirien entered alone and remained trapped inside. Kaelion waited outside and returned without her.

The temple lies halfway in the void. It served as a void gate through which Jorhan's people received essence drained from Valrindor.

Khoradyn opened the remaining door with a clawed earth construct during Brynor's expedition into the Land of Darkness. Lirien fell out alive but severely weakened. She had experienced her confinement as both an instant and an eternity. The expedition left the door open.

History
Construction
Amos and Jareth built the temple halfway in the void, replicating atraxi temple technology and powering it with essence. One door led into the void, while the other was a disguised gate. Jorhan installed a spiral shard on its pedestal to remake Xalmyrra as he remembered it whenever darkness consumed the world.
