Pelagia is the coastal capital of Theryssa on Valrindor.
Layout and buildings
White and brown buildings with earthy tiled roofs line its paved streets. Pine and olive trees grow among them, and crowded markets, shops and seafood diners serve the city. Fishing boats work the nearby waters.
The Pelagia Consulate is a layered building of white marble with a white roof. Statues of Nerissa and Pyragos flank its courtyard. Inside, wide windows and ornate columns surround the council’s large marble table. The building also provides accommodation for visiting diplomats.
An amphitheater near the coast hosts magical duels. The city’s magic academies include the school where Nero trained. A lighthouse on a small offshore island scans the sea and approaching ships for threats, protected from storms by divine shields.
The gate stands in a chamber on a hill above the city. It connects directly to Pelagos through a sequence of spells, as part of the gate network used by the two nations. Skyship docks lie at the city’s edge beside a pine forest.
Government and history
Lucilla, the head consul of Theryssa, leads the consuls from the consulate.
In 5208 AX, King George of the Blackcrag Dominion visited Pelagia to seek an alliance against the essence shapers in Shroudvale. Lucilla refused to join a mainland war. She agreed to provide George with an heir in exchange for better essence engine designs, and Blackcrag engineers remained to teach the local engineers.
After Nerissa’s invasion of Xalmyrra, Lucilla removed its supporters from the governments of Theryssa and Thiravos. Pelagia hosted negotiations at its consulate, where she and Brontes pledged both nations’ support for the Valrindor Council.
Thalena’s account
In Thalena’s Shores of Eternity, Gabriel’s crystals ruined most of Pelagia.
