Atraxis Prime

Overview

Atraxis Prime is the hidden green realm in the Land of Darkness where Jorhan shelters the surviving remnant of the atraxi after the fall of Atraxis Prime Alpha. Atraxis Prime (Town), its sole settlement, stands at the center of the realm. The settlement has a central essence reservoir that powers the town and keeps the atraxi alive inside the darkness around Xalmyrra.

Jorhan rules from Atraxis Prime for centuries as Xol'Zahir. From there, he sustains the surviving atraxi, controls the darkness around Xalmyrra, maintains the cycles, and sends followers through the gate network.

Geography & Layout

Atraxis Prime lies deep within the darkness south of Xalmyrra, in a green valley enclosed by the surrounding corruption. The realm includes open grasslands, wildflowers, waterfalls, clear water, animals, and a distant wall of darkness that encloses or surrounds the settlement. One route back to Atraxis Prime runs through a hidden gate near Dravemir, close to the borders of the Land of Darkness.

The town itself has streets, a river running through it, a central black essence tower, a palace-like building, research chambers, gate rooms, underground corridors, and at least one room prepared for Eira. The gate room beneath Atraxis Prime opens from the settlement into the atraxi gate network and the void.

Design & Architecture

Atraxis Prime's town is built in a restrained black-and-white style with clean lines, precise forms, spare ornamentation, and elegant simplicity. Buildings are structured, angular, and intentionally arranged. Axanaxa resembles Atraxis Prime in layout and symmetry, though Axanaxa is larger and uses different colors.

The central tower is a massive black essence tower and reservoir in the town center, reflective and draining to approach. Jorhan stored liquid essence for the atraxi there.

Society & Culture

Atraxis Prime is populated by the atraxi remnant loyal to, dependent on, or trapped under Jorhan's rule. Its inhabitants are quiet, watchful, and accustomed to the idea that Eira will one day come there. The settlement's daily life is peaceful, with fishing along the river, prepared meals, rooms for guests, and an ordered routine.

The peaceful daily routine depends on Jorhan's essence reservoir. The atraxi require that reservoir to live in Valrindor's essence-rich world. Their population is dwindling, difficult to replace, and isolated by the time Eira stays there. Jareth wants to establish more gates in Valrindor and leave Atraxis Prime; Amos keeps making gate activators and searching for lost atraxi expeditions.

Government & Power

Jorhan rules Atraxis Prime as the Keeper of Balance and later bears the name Xol'Zahir. His authority depends on his spiral shards, his control over the central essence reservoir, and the belief that he is preserving the atraxi from extinction and Valrindor from the darkness.

Amos and Jareth build inside the void, connect the town to a gate, make gate activators, and use the research center to search for other atraxi expeditions. Eshmir stays near Jorhan as an enforcer and caretaker. Belanor moves in and out of Atraxis Prime across the cycles and remains uneasy with what Jorhan has built.

History

Atraxis Prime is created after the atraxi flee the destruction of Atraxis Prime Alpha and arrive in Xalmyrra. When the atraxi begin dying without a stable essence source, Jorhan uses spiral-shard power to stabilize them. Amos and Jareth build inside the void and connect the new town to a gate. Their new town rises in a green valley far to the south, and the atraxi make Atraxis Prime their home under Jorhan.

Across the long Xalmyrran cycles, Atraxis Prime is Jorhan's hidden base and the home of the surviving atraxi. Belanor spends much of his life moving between the settlement and Xalmyrra. Jareth grows restless there and eventually travels into Valrindor. Amos continues researching gate routes, lost expeditions, and possible atraxi survivors beyond the known worlds.

Eira is brought to Atraxis Prime by Jorhan's followers. Jorhan gives her quarters in the town and presses her to train, use her magic, and search with Amos and Jareth for a way to save the surviving atraxi. The central tower sustains the atraxi and the surrounding world by drawing essence through gates, towers, and the void. She eventually escapes after severing her bond to the spiral shard, triggering Jorhan's pursuit and the unraveling of his control.

After Jorhan leaves Atraxis Prime, Jareth brings Durakarn's strongest fighters through the gate network for a surprise attack against the remaining atraxi, carrying out Thalena's plan to strike once Jorhan is away. When Brynor reaches Atraxis Prime through the gate network, the once-powerful atraxi town is reduced to broken buildings, blackened stone, warped metal, fractured earth, a collapsed central tower, and dead atraxi. Thirun is the only surviving signature; the attackers came as if waiting for Jorhan to leave, and Jareth was with them.

After Jorhan's defeat, Atraxis Prime remains a ruin deep within the Land of Darkness. Thalena's suggested Celestial Games challenges include retrieving rubble from the dangerous, remote ruins long after Jorhan's rule over the surviving atraxi.
