Overview

Atraxis Prime Alpha is an original world of the atraxi in the Atraxis system. Beta, Theta, Gamma, Delta, and Epsilon are other Atraxis-system worlds; Amos later detects Beta and Epsilon as dead-system remnants. Alpha's fall sends Jorhan, Eshmir, Amos, Jareth, Belanor, Kheran, and surviving atraxi refugees into exile, eventually leading to the creation of Atraxis Prime in Xalmyrra.

The atraxi gate-schematic loop runs through Alpha. The atraxi receive the original gate schematics on Atraxis Prime Alpha, decode them from fragments, and later modify them. In the Malverand era, Amos and Thalena complete the causal loop by returning to Alpha with old equipment and sending those schematic fragments backward through time.

Description

Atraxis Prime Alpha once belonged to a technologically advanced multi-planet atraxi civilization. The world had ships, docking platforms, research bays, consoles, screens, gate equipment, electricity, and a unique power source. Its architecture featured black symmetrical structures with white accents. Its landscape was dominated by reds, oranges, and deep browns.

During the final evacuation, the planet is already collapsing into ruins and ash as a void-like blackness consumes its dying sun. Jorhan's last group boards the final vessel. Amos and Jareth work in the research bay to calibrate a gate toward an expedition world.

When Amos returns more than six millennia later, scanners detect Atraxis Prime Alpha along with Beta and Epsilon in the dead old system. Alpha's surface is flat, gray, dusty, and desolate, with distant mountains, a non-breathable atmosphere, no water, no life, and crumbled ruins from the civilization that once stood there.

History

Atraxis Prime Alpha is the atraxi survivors' lost homeworld. Jareth and Kheran later introduce themselves in Maraveth as coming from Atraxis Prime Alpha. Later events on Vireen restore Brynor's memories of Alpha and his first fall out of an Alpha gate.

The evacuation from Alpha sends the surviving atraxi through gate technology toward Xalmyrra. Belanor goes through first, Amos and Eshmir descend behind him, and Jareth returns for the remaining evacuees before the survivors arrive high above the sea. The destruction of the Atraxis system leaves Jorhan afraid of the void and determined to protect Valrindor from whatever destroyed his home.

Belanor and Jareth also enter Alpha's history through the gate network itself. Eira revives two atraxi bodies that emerge from the Vireen gate and are killed by a cosmic beam, implants them with Malverand hearts, and sends them through the void toward the atraxi gates. Belanor later falls out of a gate on Alpha. Jareth also emerges there before joining Amos and the atraxi evacuation from Alpha.

In the Malverand era, Atraxis Prime Alpha remains abandoned. Amos later takes Thalena, Luke, and Elias to where the planet used to be so Thalena can send gate-schematic fragments backward through time. The expedition confirms that Alpha survives as a dead remnant. Its living civilization was destroyed.
