Meanwhile, Zero's group, posing as Jeremiah's followers, accompanied Jeremiah back to the city and gained entry behind its defenses.

Raphael's forces attacked the northern outskirts while Uriandel's fleet advanced on the Jazarel Consulate. Jeremiah's constructs, skyships and cosmic and divine barriers defended the city. Eremion arrived and fought Raphael above the northern front.
Thalion's other force went to Jazarel Lake. Igor and the earth mages excavated its side while Benedict, Sylvia and the ice mages held the water behind a growing wall of ice. Isandriel destroyed that wall, releasing the lake toward Jazarel. Raphael froze the wave, but Ignatius's plasma, Isandriel's balance magic and Benedict's ice manipulation shattered the frozen barrier. Released pressure drove water and ice onward. The city's barriers collapsed under the flood; its buildings were swept away while the consulate still stood.
Reversals of the battle
Zero and Mia attacked Jeremiah and Uriandel after their fighting had weakened them. Thalion, Isandriel and Ignatius confronted Raphael and Eremion. Thamrielle intervened on Jeremiah's side, raising a volcano and directing its lava against the Order's mages.
Helena blinked into the fighting to protect Zero. Her death unleashed her abyss, returning the battle to an earlier point within Raphael's golden hailstorm. Further attempts also ended in reversals when Zero or Thalion died. Thalion and Tianlei retained enough awareness to change their actions; Zero also began remembering the repeated fight. The spell had a bounded reach, with time continuing beyond it.
Thalion abandoned the attempt to finish Raphael and Eremion and brought Isandriel to stop Thamrielle instead. After repeated failures, Mia held Helena clear of danger but was killed by the lava redirected toward them. Zero hurled Helena toward Jarin and the waiting skyship. Mia's death caused no further reversal.
