Overview
Drakarim is the capital of Durakarn, a far-southern nation of Valrindor. Durakarn skyships challenge Eira's group there before the city's leaders admit her to the vaults, and Brynor later uses its concealed half-circle gate to return to Irrathis.
Geography and Design
Drakarim stands on a sprawling plain surrounded by mountains, rivers, and lakes, with the ocean visible in the distance. The city has a harsh, chilly climate, and its people wear thick layered clothing throughout cold weather.
The city is built from massive dark gray stone structures streaked with gold. Glass bridges link some of the taller buildings, and Durakarn skyships fly around the city as sleek, angular, essence-powered vessels whose advanced designs come from Brighthaven through Isaac.
History
When Eira, Jin Leiyun, Kaelion, and a windweaver crew approach Drakarim, local skyships challenge them before welcoming them after Eira invokes Isaac's name. Drakarim's leaders allow Eira into the city vaults. Isandriel was an ancient Durakarn leader, and the city vaults preserve that history. A concealed gate stands in a hill near the outskirts.
During Eira's stay, Jin Leiyun and Kaelion befriend Rowan, one of Durakarn's commanders. Much later, after Brynor, Aurion, Lirien, Jorhan, and Eshmir reach surviving southern Durakarn, Rowan confronts the group as Durakarn skyships close in. He allows Jorhan to clear a shadow-bound town, and after Jorhan and Eshmir die there, Rowan and Brynor discuss Eira's earlier visit, the gate, and future contact with Irrathis.
Brynor, Aurion, and Lirien later depart through Drakarim's half-circle gate with Rowan and Durakarn guards present. Durakarn will oppose Aurion if he becomes the new god of darkness.
